Sold a card on eBay a little while back. Today I got a message that the buyer is not happy because the jersey swatch is a little discolored. Auction was a month ago and the buyer first contacted me today. Card was a Verlander RC Auto, so obviously a card that was very volatile over that time period. Really not sure what to do. Any thoughts?

What is your stated return policy? Also, do you have a link to the auction / scan of the item in question?

The policy is:

"Returns accepted if item can be shown to be "not as described" in the listing."

I pm'd you the link. Don't want to post it just yet.

Not much you can do. I sold a card that had 3 jersey pieces and they were covered with pine tar so paypal accused me of faking a card and I lost card and money::facepalm:: ::facepalm::

Well, it's outside of your stated return policy, so you have that going for you.

But you sold it on eBay, and the seller paid via Paypal, which means that no matter what you do, you're going to have to refund the money if they aren't happy, since they can file a SNAD claim, and you'll have to jump through hoops in order to prove your case, just to lose anyway.

Sad that things have reached this point, but they have.

So they're complaining about a game used card that's discolored? Doesn't that just mean it was, y'know, actually used in a game?

Just shows the pure stupidity of buyers on game used stuff. Idiots don't know the more use the better on stuff. By game issued if you want nice and clean. Tell the pink hat to shove it up their you know what hole.

Doesn't the guy only have 30 days to file a case anyways? What an ass.

I thought he had 45 days but in any case he is ridiculous. If I was looking at a bunch of the same game used piece and all were around the same price I'd definitely get the one that shows some game used wear.

Probably buyer remorse..

What was the sale price vs current price? Any big difference?

Not sure what the paypal policy is..if he files item not as described, you can try contacting paypal that you wont accept returns after a mo th had passed but most likely, if the buyer returns the card, might have to refund it...

Its crazy ebay wise...its like playing Russian roulette selling or buying these day. Lol .

I think around a buck fifty? And it is buyers remorse for sure since they are getting around 85. to a buck twenty-five now
But if and when they announce officially he is the CY Young winner and then Tigers win the World Series winning the next 4 games though  Then that card will only go up in price and the buyer can easily makes some money. :)

Again all of this I posted are only assumptions. ;)

I had a 2005 Will Clark jumbo swatch that was white with dirt all over it. I had a few questions about whether I did it or not. Some people thought I did but a couple clark collectors went after it and I got paid.

Funny thing is that the buyer got a real deal on it at the time, $92 or so (I sold another just a week before for around $150) so it's not like they are taking a big loss.
