Actually, it would be almost 140 boxes per store, that would be a TON of product. I've worked at Target for 10 years now. I helped open the store I work at, and we're store #1417. Target has around 1600 stores in the US and probably had around 1,000 to 1,200 stores or even less in 1993. On average we sell about 20-30 sealed sets through out the year. Cards were a bigger deal in the '90's, so 100-150 sets might be about right, but I can't remember if companies were doing special inserts or promos for specific stores back then. I'd assume that it's a regular base set with Target packaging.

If you say there were 1000 stores and there were 14,500 sets made, then there's no way that could be 140 sets per store. I think you added a zero in there.

14 sets per store isn't a lot for that era.

Target had closer to 500-600 stores in 1993. Most of their expansion wasn't until they and WalMart started opening super centers everywhere.

Here's a Chicago Tribune article about a new store opening in Evanston by mid-1993, stating they had 463 stores open in 1991:

That would still only put it in the vicinity of 24-25 sets per store, assuming they actually went to all the stores, which isn't necessarily the case.

Ok so I cracked the set and each card has a red holo on the back. What should i
do now?

Ok so I'm joking about the red holos. As I unwrapped it, I noticed that the top part where the target logo and serial numbering is happens to be a separate picece, just glued to a basic factory set.

To sum it up, everything is just the basic faxtory set. The only thing "unique" is the top part w the extra photos, logo and numbering.

I'm going to list the top part probably next week. I can't imagine any player collectors having it and it does show griffey, thomas, sandberg, etc.

Yeah, figured worse case is that I break even and put out the set for 20-25. Was worth the "gamble"

And ill list the top part (its actually a sheet, not card board) so I should make something on it
