I love the Pirates!!! I know, I know, they've sucked for the last 18 years, but I still go to games and support them. They'll get back on track and start winning again sometime.......................I think/hope.

Ken Griffey Jr.

At my first Mariners game, my dad was able to get us box seats right on top of the dugout, first row, from his work. Griffey caught a fly ball to end the inning and as he ran in he pointed at me and tossed me the ball. From that point on, I bought his glove, played center field all of my life, I wear #24 and still use his swing today.

Big shocker here, but Tony Gwynn. I loved the fact that no matter how "good" he was, he always tried to get better. Always working hard on his game, and as a person! And it helps that he is the best hitter "since Ted WIlliams"!

Carlos Quentin of the White Sox. Had a tough season, but I still love to watch him play.

Thanks for the contest!

Hanley Ramirez.

Red Sox prospect (I'm a Red Sox fan), so I got to keep tabs on his development. Then he went to Florida and I picked him up in fantasy and easily won my league because of him. I check the scores each day to see how he did, and was impressed with how good he was. Now I do the same and try to watch him play whenever he's on national tv.

Texas Rangers have always been my team. When I was a kid, my favorite player was Will Clark. I even learned to switch hit just so I could try to emulate his swing. I ended up becoming a better hitter from the left side and considered that my "natrual" side even though Im right handed in any other sport.

Thanks for the contest (again).

YET ONE MORE CHANCE TON WIN A FREE SLOT TODAY!

From 10am to 10pm, simply post your favorite BASEBALL player or team
That is it... at 10pm no more posts will be counted and no later than 10:30pm I will randomize and pick one user that posted the info...
Simple enough & way to get to know us better, if we don't already...

My favorite player for many years has been Lance Berkman - several reasons, but overall a good Christian man that I really respect... he has had has ups 7 downs on the field, but still enjoy watching him when I can...
Also enjoy Vladimir & Hanley
Plus as a biggie for me, all 3 of these guys were on my Strat-o-matic Team together for 3 straight years as my 3 keepers a few years back, if you are familiar with the game...

As a side note...For football I like D-Mac, Felix Jones, & the old man Favre.... but ultimate fave is KURT WARNER

Let the posting begin!

i know alot will probably ridicule for the player in baseball ill always list as my favorite, but id be lieing if said any other, Jose Canseco, he was the King when i first got into sports collecting in 89, and always loved watching him bash the ball out of town, heh. Currently ive been likeing and watching 2 prospects Dustin Ackley and Greg Halman though.

My favorite athlete was Kurt Warner. The story was great, but his play was even greater! It is amazing to me the way he played in 1999 haveing not played in the league before. He won NFL MVP, Super Bowl MVP, Pro Bowl MVP, and should have got Rookie of the Year. I can't believe he was not considered a rookie because he threw 10 passes the previous year. I believe the Rams gave up on he and Mike Martz to early. The biggest mistake Warner made was trying to play through his thumb injury. When his thunb was messed up, he could not grip the ball. He played poorly and the Rams gave up on him quickly. He played decent in New York, but his style was a much better fit in Arizona without the wind. He went to the gloves, got his magic back, and now the next stop is the Hall of Fame!

My favorite baseball player is Jorge Posada, because I've always been a die-hard Yank fan and being a catcher, he automatically becomes my favorite player.

My favorite player was Cal Ripken Jr. Which turned into my favorite team being the Baltimore Orioles. Now I can't seem to not root for the Orioles even though they have had like 15 straight losing seasons.

Favorite baseball team is the Red Sox

Favorite current player is Pedroia - what's not to love?
Also like Buchholtz and Lester, because at least this past season - when they were pitching was pretty much the only time you wanted to watch the Sox.
