Threads dedicated to how awesome retail boxes are and what amazing hits they get and how people are combing the hills trying to find more is a Topps wet dream.
I am sure Wal Mart is going to keep squeezing Topps to add more and more value to retail so people get ready I am sure it won't stop soon.
NOTHING else in the card section of my Walmart has these 25% off stickers on them, and these would sell as well at $14.98
By the way, Walmrt has nothing to do with topps whatsoever. These are all stocked/controlled/sold through distribution companies.
These products are supplied to the Walmart locations and shelf space is distribution company called Becket (sp?, but not the Beckett from TX) in my area.
Walmart rents shelf space, that's it.
You obviously no nothing on how retail stores operate. I spent my entire life developing products for stores such as Wal Mart. I have been to their headquarters many times getting products approved to be placed on their shelfs. They are all about value addition and how to distinguish themselves from their competition.
Why do you think there are exclusives for Target and Walmart made by Topps, especially if Walmart had nothing to do with it.
You don't know what your talking about here.
Everything at TRU is overpriced... :lol:moxacaine said:2 targets and one Walmart equals 0 value boxes. Toys r us has 6 at a crazy price. 8(

Didn't the Lawrie Super auto get pulled from a value box in Texas?

Hopefully you're not in the midwest. Our Wally had the shittiest produce in town for about 6 months last year.MartinFFcollector said:I agree with the post above me about Wal Mart caring about the products and people "going the extra mile" for them. The company I work for is one of the many suppliers of produce for Wal-Mart. If there is a problem, rather it be bad produce, sizing, paperwork issue, not following their rules etc., a call goes out and gets back to us and we fix it. Needless to say they always get the freshest. You treat your bigger customers a little better.
uniquebaseballcards said:As long as the hits in all hobby packs conform to the odds printed on the back of the pack there's zero reason to complain. Topps has offered 1/1 hits in their retail products ever since they had 1/1s... way back in 2004. There's no reason for Topps not to offer hobby packs in retail outlets as long as people understand what they're getting.
People who buy hobby aren't better than the had-core or casual people buying retail. The last thing the hobby needs is a snobby "elite class" with a heavy feeling of entitlement.
I definitely agree that one shouldn't bust wax if getting damaged cards bothers him/her that much...BUT damaged cards have ALWAYS been around since cards have been around from ALL manufacturers, it just comes with the territory.
Mr.1989 said:You know, after some thinking I have a few things on my mind right now:
1) Topps, how DARE YOU put some of the best cards in your products in some of your worst/most low end boxes.
2) So now I don't know how I would feel about buying a hobby box of either topps chrome or bowman chrome, because apparently all of the good cards aren't even in there! So hobby must be stuffed with base or crap prospects!
3) This, coupled with the current Heritage problems, creating different products and removing them constantly(National Chicle, etc.), along with the regular consistency through the years of pulling damaged cards (which just pisses me off) has made me realize that Topps, you have problems, and before I spend any more money on your products, you better fix your problems.
I am not going to buy any more Topps products until they fix at least the two main issues:
1) I believed that if you spend $60-$70 on a product that you should have a decent chance of pulling at least something. If Topps is willing chance that one of their superfractor autos would be picked up by some kid who could potentially just throw it away or damage it, it shows to me that Topps doesn't care about their customers, and Topps definitely doesn't care about customers who spend thousands of dollars a year or more on their products.
This is based on opinion, but I firmly believe it: Topps, your first main issue is that all superfractors need to be in only hobby boxes, not value boxes, not retail boxes; if someone wants a shot at a superfractor, they should only get it from a hobby box.
2) Damaged cards has been on the rise while customer service has been on the decline, and if you want customers to handle the insult of a damaged card or the disrespect of a rude associate, you should at least have given them an overall good product.
If you want my business Topps, you need to change those two things; I swear I'm teetering on the edge of boycotting Topps.
THANKS TOPPS
I want you to think about how they packs are inserted off of the production line; maybe topps goes "hey, maybe we better make the value boxes look good this year and put some nicer cards in the boxes so people will actually buy them" and by the time that message gets to the production line, the workers go "ok, so we're supposed to put a ton of the high end cards in the value boxes, will do!"A_Pharis said:It's RANDOM. THere was just as good of a chance of them being in HOBBY boxes. Jesus Christ, kid. Get over it. You're like a psycho ex-girlfriend.
I like your perspective; I guess one thing is that dying hobby stores kill me inside........muskiesfan said:I think its great that nice hits are coming out of retail. Now when people are heading to the check out line, they will stop and take a look at what is available. Plus, as someone else previously mentioned, hobby stores are drying up. People still want to bust wax, but there may not be a shop close to them. Then you have people who may not be able to swing $50-60+ on hobby boxes, but can afford the $10-20 blasters and value boxes.
I really hope that they continue to have value boxes have value. I look forward to the 2012 value boxes.
