Tigers offense is a million times better than teams like mariners, giants, mets and padres (referring to the players on teams with lower career ERA)...and not taking away from how talented justin isjofinn36 said:Ok how many 23 win seasons do they have and 2 no hitters. Felix Hernandez doesn't have many wins and I don't care where he plays for.

All serious here.....if he gets 25 wins he "should" be the MVP.
No a Tigers fan but I am of good pitching (re: Gibby collection) but Go Verlander Go!

RL24 said:He has had the luckiest season ever. Has had to face the Yankees? Oh? How did that work out for him?
He pitched against the Yankees twice this year, both times his team lost, but he managed to espcape without getting the L. And it's not like he pitched a shutout into the 8th and his team lost in the 9th, no. He let up 3 ER in each appearance and really should have picked up a couple Ls there.
He's only had to play Boston twice, and once the same thing happened. Team lost, 3 ER for JV, but no L. Lucky crap going on for this guy. Only had to play Texas once, and picked up an L. Only had to play the Angels once, and picked up another L. If he didn't get to play the White Sox so many times, his numbers would look more normal.
Sure he's having a good season, but if he had to face the tough teams, and didn't get 5 runs of support every game..... there might actually be a Cy Young race this year.

I didn't realize the Yankees were the only team that could measure an opponent's greatness ::facepalm::
Please, by all means, point out his QUALITY STARTS against the Yankees (you guys would be pitching pant tents if AJ Burnett had those numbers against ANY TEAM - 6 IP 3 ER 8 K both times).
Don't mention the 2-0 loss CG vs the Rangers, don't mention the 0 R in 7.2 IP win vs the Red Sox, don't mention the complete game shutout vs the Indians when they were one of the hottest teams in baseball, don't mention the complete game victory AT COLORADO, don't mention the 8 IP, 14k performance vs the 1st place team in the NL West - Arizona, don't mention the 1-0 loss vs the Angels, don't mention the other start vs the Angels - 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 9 K, don't mention his 1 ER, 7 IP performance vs the Rays....
Don't mention that MOST, if not ALL, of his starts have been quality starts.
Don't mention the 18 starts with at least 8 K's.
Don't mention he carried THREE no-hitters into the 8th inning this year.
Oh yeah, he threw a no-hitter in Toronto too.
Damn, you're right. He has been lucky.

My bad, I completely missed the other Angels game, I really only saw that he played them once and lost. My bad.
I'm an Indians fan, so I enjoy seeing A.J. Burnett flail on the mound. Except for the fact that it throws CC's regularly scheduled starts off. That kinda pisses me off. And so does Verlander's great season.![]()
