Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

Very nice pickups everyone:

Chris D: Nice vintage rookie pickups!

dano7: Love the Mantle rookie. Are you planning to eventually get the other two big rookies in that issue? The Mays and the Whitey??

I'm working on Yankees only, so for now, I'm not looking on picking up a Mays. Already have the Whitey. The Mantle completes the 1951 Bowman Yankees for me!

I had purchased this before buying the Mantle. Actually got a good buy on this, at $21.01.

Dano - I've been away for awhile.....NICE MANTLE!! Congrats on finishing your Yankee set.
I've picked up a few cards that I'll try to get scanned soon now that I have some computer issues fixed.

Nice cards everyone.

Very nice! I'd always thought of Jensen as a Red Sox player, as he was with them when I first started collecting cards. Difficult to get rid of that Yankee/Red Sox connection sometimes.

Jackie definitely made a career move for the better. ;) J/K, Danny. Great pickup. That image of Jensen is great.

Wow Dano, I'm so sorry for what happened to your card! Hopefully, the seller and yourself will come to some satisfactory outcome. Looks like it could have been wrapped better and the PO could have handled with softer hands. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck.

On a lighter side, here are 2 new '33 Goudeys. I think it brings me to 190/239-(240).

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

As I stated in your other thread Danny, sorry to hear about your Mantle.

RC:

I've never seen that Woody English Goudey before. IMO, that is one of the greatest looking cards in the set. I like the background color and the shadows/lighting on his uniform.

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

Thanks Scotty - I see you have the Cronin trilogy, I'm missing #109. The '33 Goudey set is a neat set but I probably will never complete because of a few of the biggies. I was lucky that some of the $$$ cards were included in my intial purchase . I need to get the set scanned individually rather than on 9 card sheets but I just haven't taken the time.

Jay - I agree about the English, it's a little unique with the colors and shading, I really like that he appears to love what he's doing.

Re: OFFICIAL- Vintage Pickup Thread.

I purchased this at the end of April, but it just got here from Canada. That was no problem, as I knew it would take a while. All the way from Canada, without being destroyed!

My first Silk S74-2. It's been out of protective covering for me once and probably never again, extremely fragile but kind of cool.

Neat. How were they distributed? I saw on Net54 that the pic is of someone else. You would think Upper Deck made it.
