No matter the condition the Reese card has to be one of the best ever.

A bit of trivia...anyone know who is sliding?

Hmmmm...........I remember looking into that when I got the card a couple of years ago but don't recall ever finding out. I did just do one search and apparently Reese himself thought it was someone named Frenchy Bordagaray. From what I'm reading (link below) he was a coach in the Dodgers organization. The card, and it seems to be widely agreed on, is that it was taken at a spring training game.

So, I don't know if this is the right answer and I cheated anyway to find out. :D

I have always thought Wheaties cards were undervalued and unappreciated. Nice pick up
Thanks, I agree, esp. on the eye appeal on these cards. Wish Hank was in some of the Wheaties cards issued in the 40's as well, they are niiiiiice.

After reading Frank Barning's article I am now doubting my memory but I do remember reading many years ago the one sliding into second base was none other than the Yankees Phil Rizzuto. It certainly appears to be a Yankee road uniform the slider is wearing. I cannot say where I read this at but it was years ago and ore than likely I read it in Sports Collectors Digest.

The Reese photo was staged by the photographer, who was shooting from on the field. It was not an actual in-game shot, so I would be inclined to believe Reese's recollection that it was a Dodgers coach. That would also explain why the phony "slide" shows the player's face obscurred.

Posted this over on the main board but figured I would post it here too. My first decent vintage pickup. I've always wanted one of these and this finally came in the mail yesterday. Seems like it's in great condition for a PSA 3, it has good eye appeal.

Love that card! Possibly my favorite Williams card out there. Hell, I love that set!

Just got this in the mail. Wanted to see if I like the way they look in person as much as I do on the computer (I do!). Going to slowly piece together the set in PSA 8. Pretty affordable and relatively available (if ebay is any indication).

I like the Topps Giants sets too. I have a few '64s, the best being Warren Spahn.
I have about 80% of the '71 Topps Super set, which is about the same size as the '64 Giants, but the Supers have much thicker card stock.
