Update on Mantle:
The Mantle card was sent back to the seller and ebay is involved in a dispute. I was told that I should get all of my money back. I will post again about this, once money is returned.
In the meantime, I came across this card for my 1952 Yankees. Well centered, with hardly noticeable tiny bends in the upper two corners. By the way, this one came packaged in a box with peanuts around it!

Don't worry about completing the set. Barring a lottery win, it's impossible. Enjoy the ride.

Like most collectors of this set I'm targetting a slightly lower total than the 524 cards in the complete set. My aim is 520 - I think this will be possible with time and a strong pound sterling. The thing I really fear is can I continue on this set for a decade? My aim is to add one card per week starting on Boxing Day 2006 so I have already slipped a little behind my target (have 114 cards should be up around 128).

Scott how long have you been collecting this set? I see from another thread you are 13 cards short - I know this will include the big four but what other cards - I'm guessing Cobb, Johnson and Young may figure?

I started this set back in 2002.

I also made a mistake earlier. I am at 513 and am eleven short, not thirteen.

I still “need”:

the four Cobbs
Demmitt – St.Louis
Elberfeld - Washington
Doyle
Magie
Plank
Wagner
O’Hara – St. Louis

I think I should be able to add a Cobb or two and the Elberfeld in the near future.

I am not a big fsan of saying the set is "complete" at 520. Very, very few people will have the resources to collect the entire set...and that's OK.

I just received this lot of 5 1952 Yankees, which I purchased to get the Rizzuto. The other four I already had, so I can use those for trade/sale.
