Hey everyone.

Quick question. Do you think a website that offers just $1 cards would be successful?

If not, please explain your reasoning.

Sure. I've racked up bills on ebay, naxcom, and eventually will on COMC buying cards that were just $1. As a team collector (and a few random players), I go for anything I don't already have, so I'd love to be able to pick up a few $1 inserts/rookies of the guys I collect if I could get them in one place with combined shipping.

You would definately generate a lot of traffic which will attract a lot of advertisers.

Yes, it's called eBay and they have tons of cards for $1.00 in many of their stores. It's a pretty successful website from what I understand.

Depending on what you put on it may or may not work. I'm not saying you have to put on 10 dollar plus cards to make it work, but I refuse to pay 1 dollar for base cards which is what most ebay BIN's for 1 dollar cards consist of.

That's a good point. I won't pull the trigger on a base card for $1.00 even with a combined shipping deal. However, I will do it in a heartbeat to pick up 5 or more low end rookies/inserts.

Nope. I would say how about a site that has what they should really be worth. .25 .50 .75 max a card.
And shipping starts at only 1.00 for 3 cards and then works up to no more the 3 bucks. now unless you buy over say 20-25 then it should be a flat rate or something along those lines. And even more for say 100-to-500 hundred cards.

Here's the problem with a site like that.

Take your one dollar.

subtract paypal fees:

69 cents

subtract *your fee*

and now how much is the seller left with?

Everything will be an insert/numbered. No Base (except maybe Ultimate Collection/Triple Threads/etc.).

I haven't decided what shipping will be. Everything will be shipped in a bubble mailer with confirmation, just like I do almost every other deal.

Pigskin- This wouldn't be like COMC, it would be my inventory.

I think it sounds like a good idea Eddie. If your shipping and customer service is better then eBay's, word will get around.

I'd visit the site for sure. As was already suggested, I'd love to see 25, 50, and 75 cent cards on a place like this as well. No one wants to pay a dollar for base, but player/team collectos would pay a quarter with combined shipping.

I could find #'d cards of my favorite players, and find autos of scrubs from the past.

If you are looking to make a profit, this is not the way to do it. It has too small of a focus that would really only appeal to a small amount of people. The time spent maintaining a site like this along with dollars spent on any advertising would make it a losing proposition... A better idea would be to create a blog with a similar focus where you can post lists of cards for sale as well as add internal content that supports what you are selling. If you were to mix a blog with sales and update it regularly you should find that it ends up being at least somewhat profitable. Maybe a good name for the Blog would be the "The $1 Card Box" or something along those lines?

Perhaps add low end vintage cards to your database as well. I'm in the search for Mets vintage and I would happily pay a buck for the low end ones.
