Morning all. My two boys started school today. My little girl starts on Friday.

Today we get to honor one of my all time favorite treats...it is National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day. If you have never tried it, you are missing something great.

Rare morning double today, ALOT easier than overnight Double...

Kinda surprised the Browns went with Hoyer as the Starter over Johnny Clipboard. Good call, but it was a surprise due to the fan and media attention and the fact that Hoyer isn't exactly Tom Brady.

Good morning all. Today is my busy day as far as classes go. I wanted to sleep in a little (8:30) but woke up at 7. I'm hoping that soon I'll be able to force myself to sleep in a little

Good Morning Kiddies

I'm off to the Union Hall to play Financial secretary/treasurer. Also can I say this Iceberg water wasting, trend-less thing that is taking over the real news these days, is getting boring and needs to stop.........Stop right now.

Respectfully disagree. I had to watch helplessly as a good friend's spouse suffered and died from ALS. It is a truly horrible way to die. Long, slow, painful and there is nothing anyone can do about it. I will watch ice buckets all day if it gets us closer to a cure. As far as how much water it is wasting...that is really a drop in the bucket compared to our overall consumption.

ESPN has a great short video on where, why and how the whole thing got started. It is worth watching.

Edit: Also, lest we forget, people are SUPPOSED to dump the water AND donate. Not "or donate". $20 if you do the water, $100 if you don't. Although I am sure many (most?) are skipping that part. From what I heard they have raised nearly as much in the last 21 days for ALS research as they did all last year.

Unfortunately I think a lot of people are just doing it because it's the latest craze and this month's cool Facebook trend. If even some of the people who are posting videos are making donations, and the numbers recently released suggest so, then the increased awareness seems to be working.

At the hospital I work at, the doctors and researchers in the ALS clinic did a group dump. The video is almost three minutes long but only the final 20 seconds or so is the actual dump. http://youtu.be/8XUbf59Vn6Q

It'll be 10 years ago this fall that my grandmother passed from ALS. It's a horrible disease. I agree that I'm sure lots of people are just doing the water dump to stay cool and not donating, but for a disease that gets very publicity I'll take the attention it's getting regardless who's giving.
