My most memorable box was a box of 1998 Topps Gold Label. I watched the Beckett for so long admiring these cards.

Walmart got a box in and I put it on Layaway. I slowly paid them off and I finally got the box paid for and took it home. It was 3 cards per pack, 24 packs, $72 dollars.

I remember opening the packs and thinking that even the packs looked awesome, because they were holographic inside.

I loved the foil on the cards and the different foil lettering. I remember pulling a Jim Edmonds Red /100 from the box.

Thanks for the contest. If I win the card, I'm giving it to GarkoCollector so that he can bust some wax with his dad.

Not a box break, only about a 5 pack break.

I was breaking UD Origins back in 2005 and wasn't getting any "decent" hits. Just a few numbered cards here and there. Well, I bought 3 packs of Origins in one trip to the shop and pulled a Ryan Spilborghs rookie card #d to 99. I posted it for sale online, not expecting much, but within a few hours his mom had actually emailed me and was very interested in acquiring the card. I ended up sending it to her at no charge since it really meant nothing to me at the time. She thanked me and said that if I ever run across the version numbered to (I wanna say it was #d/35, maybe lower), to PLEASE contact her and she will buy it. 2 days later, back at the same shop, bought a couple packs, and low and behold, the lower numbered version. I sent it off to her. She mailed me back a $20.

Wasn't expecting much out of her, but it was certainly a cool break. Not only to get cards to a player's mother but to have those two cards pulled within a couple days and while talking to his mother.

I bought a box of 2004 First Pitch (retail) at a local Wal-Mart a few years ago. I wasn't expecting to pull much as I think it was marked down to 30 bucks or so. I ended up pulling a whole bunch of base... The only card of note was a random Griffey Auto that I didn't even know was a possible pull. I ended up trading it a few months back for a couple hundred or so Bagwell cards.

Still my best pull to date (especially from retail) as I don't really bust wax.

I try not to break too many boxes, so this brings up a good memory - of my first box break.

Where: The local stationary store next to the local supermarket.
Cost: $36 + tax, an unheard of, ridiculous price
Product: 1989 Upper Deck

Did I pull a Griffey? Nope! But I eventually pulled one shelling out a dollar per pack. Who could forget ripping open those foil packs?!

If my parents knew I spent that much there would've been trouble :)

The next year I remember going to the card shop in town with my three friends and buying a box of Fleer...because some people thought production issues were going to lead to a shortage of that product

1998 Box of SP Authentic Racing, yes, I said racing. I pulled 3 single autographs out of the box including Michael Waltrip and a parallel autograph of Jeff Burton. I then pulled a redemption for an actual full Nascar window net. Unfortunately, it was not a race used net, just a window net ... still cool.

And the best card, a redemption card for a dual autograph card of Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr. There were only 25 listed made, but this was a redemption card in a not so popular release, so most likely there are a lot fewer cards available. I ended up selling that card when Dale was alive for $100. I've kicked myself ever since. One showed up on Ebay recently and I tried to nickel and dime the seller below $300 and it ended up selling for $300 even.

I believe it was 1991 Score. I received about a half a box's worth of packs in my Easter basket from that wascally wabbit. Ended up pulling a Chuck Knaublock(sp) "buyback" auto. This was one of the first autos inserted in to packs. I was stunned and never dreamed of pulling such an amazing card. I ended up selling it at a flea market for $50 (I was young and took the 1st offer I got as I just wanted cash!). Bought a ton of singles and was a rich kid for at least one weekend. Thanks for the contest! This place seems to need a morale booster :)

I was down to 5 cards to finish off the set. Set is #/30 odds of pulling any one particular card 1:11850
I pulled Young in a $65 box from ebay bringing me down to 4 (at the time), it is the only one I ever pulled that I needed at the time, all other were extras.

My most memorable box was a box of 2000 SP Authentic on August 13, 2000. My first child was born that day. When I left the hospital, there was just enough time to stop by the LCS. I wanted to see if my run of good luck would continue and it did.

My second most memorable box had these two cards.

Oh, this is easy for me.

I have a brutally addictive personality. I mean, I get addicted to everything. Drinking, smoking, gambling, and eventually cracking some wax.

I started collecting flagship maybe a pack or two at a time, and then maybe 2 packs at a time, and then three, and then handfuls, and then 15 packs at once. I couldn't bring myself to buy a box, but I finally caved and I caved hard. I bought three jumbo boxes of topps flagship and arrived home to my girlfriend who lost her mind event though I'd stripped off the price-tags prior to returning home. These were around 100 canadian each and I told her they were maybe 30 bucks each. It took me a little over a week to open them, because like every good addict, I made sure to give them to the girlfriend so she could ration them to me. Looked at every single card and read every single back. Didn't sell a single card (I hadn't discovered eBay at that point). I got jack-all but was insanely excited and thus began my wax opening adventure. Still my favorite three boxes of cards and didn't get **** out of 'em.

Please don't laugh, since I rip the NBA alot, but I did 2 jumbo Topps 07/08 Basketball (Durant year) and had a blast!

Got them for a great price and just had fun, made 3 sets + and a set of the Heritage T/Bs.

I don't do much wax, so maybe that's why, but just had a good ol' time with that rip.

Thanks for the contest and GL on the new sites!

Mine was back in 1994. I was a big Matt Williams fan because he hit 2HRs at my first ever MLB game. Well, in '94 I got a box of 1991 Donruss for Christmas. Not too pricey, probably full of commons, right? Well, not this one. Imagine my excitement when I pulled a Donruss Elite of my favorite player numbers to just 10,000! It booked for $80 at the time and I was floored:

The other cards in that picture were TTM autos I got from williams in '95 or '96. I still have the Elite, of course.

Thanks for the contest,
Anthony

My most memorable box was a box of 2005 Sweet Spot. My dad got it for me and I was just wanting to get the sweet spot auto baseball. But I always thought how cool it would be to get an Auto glove or Auto bat. Well we get bout half way through the box and get the first hit and it turns out to be a BJ Upton Auto glove /35. I was super excited about it my dad told me I could open the rest of the box because he figured no more hits left. The 2nd to last pack had a Ryan Howard Auto bat barrel /35 as well. By far one of the best boxes I have ever opened.

A few years ago my LCS had quite a few boxes of 05 Sweet Sot Classic. Bought one and pulled my Ruth GU. I decided I wanted to put together Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and Dimaggio from the set. The shop had the Mantle for sale, so I decided to buy it because I had gotten the Dimaggio and Gehrig. Same time I bought another box and pulled the same Mantle. Now the four is the cornerstone ofmy collection.

No doubt that if I tried crack, I'd be addicted to it.

1993 Donruss. My father bought it for me as a birthday gift. I opened pack after pack, deciding to put together the whole set. I started putting them in numerical order before opening the next packs. I grab another random pack as I'm approaching the bottom and notice silver. Weird.

I've never seen silver in one of these before.

So I push the offensive cards that are blocking this oddity. I see a Pirates uniform and the word "Elite".

I had heard of these before but they were a thing of legend. But I had a 1994 Donruss Elite Barry Bonds in my hand. My next trip to the card shop sent me home even happier. He didn't think he could sell a card worth so much and was unwilling to trade for it.

Of course now I couldn't get $20 for it, but I was the luckiest kid in the world back then.
