Nice! By the way, I am finally on here! Always have fond memories of our trading back in the day, as you were the first person I ever traded with on Beckett!

Been doing quite well overall, minus one tragic event. Don't have the collecting budget I used to, but still do what I can. Married life, mortgage payments, etc... cut down on the collecting budget. Wife and I are celebrating our 6th anniversary this coming weekend. How has life been treating you?

Glad to be here! Cherish your kids... the tragedy that I referenced was that my one child (so far) was stillborn. :(

In his honor, I am proud to share the following photo:

Welcome to FCB!

Thank you, guys. Its something I would never wish upon my worst enemy. Did get to spend about 3-4 hours with him... they dressed him up and called in a photographer to take tons of photos. We are trying again, but no luck yet. Also have gone through 2 phases of adoption interviews, as we want to open up that possibility. However, to do so, we will need financial assistance from family members, as that is quite expensive.

I think you and I have talked in the past. . .

First and foremost, I am so sorry for your loss. I have had two boys and everything went so flawlessly, from conception to birth to where they are now (just turned 11 and 5), that I forget what a miracle is really is. Keep a positive attitude and things will work out.

In re: the adoption front, we just had some friends go through the process with an agency here. The family was matched within a week (half african american, half white baby) and had a baby within 2 months. It was not cheap, but the point of my post -- the agency is in Florida. I assume you're in Tallahassee (FSU c/o '95!) If you're interested, I can get the info.

Good luck... Go Noles!

Yes, I still live in Tallahassee and am FSU c/o '95 for undergrad, '99 for masters! GO NOLES! Thank you for the info. My wife wants to use an adoption law center rather than an agency, as it often takes much less time (granted, 2 months is lightning fast for an agency or law center). If we go the adoption route, we are probably going to do an open adoption. I have a friend from high school who used an agency and it took her and her husband over 2 years before they were matched. The law center that we interviewed with placed over 600 newborns last year, and wait time varies from 4-13 months. With our situation, they believe we would be on the shorter end of that. We'll give it a few more months of trying and then talk to some select family members that might be able to fund the financial aspects of an adoption for us. We would rather spend all of our spare money on the baby itself, rather than paying back loans just to get the baby.

I used to go by "Jeff N." - don't know if that rings any bells.

We apparently graduated at the same time... Spring 95? What was your major? I graduated with a BS in Accounting.

I wish you all the luck in the world with both conception and the adoption. Not sure the difference between a "law center" and an "agency" -- is there one?

Now that you say "Jeff N", I definitely remember you. I think we even traded a couple times. I graduated in Fall '95 with a BS in Geography. I am now a GIS Technician for the Fl. Division of Emergency Management. My wife has done a lot of research on adoption... from what I gather from her, an agency is an advocate for the expectant mother, trying to find a good family to place her child in, and is registered with the state. A law center registers nationally, and once they accept an adoptive family, becomes an advocate for the family as they try to find a good match in an expectant mother and then "market" the adoptive family to the mother. The biggest benefit according to my wife is that the law center searches nationally for the match, while an agency usually does so within the state, as it is much harder for an agency to match out of state. I am certainly not as knowledgeable about the process as my wife has become. What is the name of the agency in FL that your friends used?

I'll find out and get it to you in a PM. A fraternity brother of mine is up in Tallahassee and is a geologist as well, he would have graduated around the same time... maybe you know him -- Wes Leon?
