I am just loving this thread. Even though its not much it made me purchase whats listed below. I will have these in my possesion later this week. I figured I wanted to have some fun opening at least the 79 Topps packs and I will decide on this Wax Racks later on

a few friends and i were talking about collecting in the 80s tonight. being young many of the rookies were out of our price range so we would focus on the 2nd year cards. i brought this thread up and we literally talked about collecting for 45 minutes. sadly i am the only one actively collecting but one cat is going to go to a show with me next month. so we will see... is that weird to have a man date! lmao.

thanks eric i have flipped from working 89 backwards to working from 80 forward lol... the sheffield "ss" error, randy johnons malboro, omar viquels, and deion sanders are eluding. so i quit for now. let that be a lesson to all the kids out there! if something is difficult give up!

I believe I have a 100 card "brick" of 1987 Topps Will Clark's around somewhere. Not sure where they are. Awesome.

It has some staining on the back and the front is a little o/c t/b. No complaints here though. I'm a bigger fan of 9s over 10s. When I collected as a kid, a card didn't get any better than mint.

Thanks! I was a huge Thrill fan back in the day. His '87 Topps was like the Holy Grail to me. When I discovered my old Ellis Burks collection last year, there was a binder full of cards. One page was full of those Clarks. The pages were far from archival quality, unfortunately. Most of the cards were stuck.

tonight i spent an hour going through my '81 Topps Traded Factory Set and was able to find 16 cards i can use for my set. Raines was the only "money" card that made the cut.

raines is a nice one to hit on. you are either going to have the nicest 80s topps sets ever... or a room with soft padding and a no belt sign on the wall. are you just using the old eyeball test or getting technical?
