What are these?

I stumbled upon this guys ebay store. He has many of these proofs, that look like card negatives. Are these from Topps? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Never seen them before, It says the back is like a normal card pulled in a pack. I have seen proof cards before but never with a metal plate on the front. Most are usually red or yellow to test the plates prior to printing the run and usually a complete proof of all the colors to make sure it looks ok. Wonder where he got them though? The years, players and sports are really random.

From what I've read, I think you have to put the card in hot water and remove the paper, and then the back of the card looks like a proof.

I guess what he means by this statement is, he scans them with a film scanner to get the look of glowing and uses PS?

He has made some serious money by doing this, A few cards have sold between 75-200 dollars a piece. Amazing how the card companies have not stepped in to stop this from happening anymore.

Funny that all of these "proofs" are chrome products. What he is doing is peeling off the cardboard backs. What you see is the back of the foil, so when turned over it looks like a normal card. He is misleading consumers by inferring they were used for production of the card. His fine print is "similar to a press plate". Doesn't say that it is one. A total joke!
