I've seen a group of people go up to a player on his son's birthday at a restaurant. It was obviously the child's birthday. (I wasn't with that player)
Same player got nearly mugged at his anniversary dinner with his wife.

I was at a couple's shower (I know) for an expectant player and his wife. It was at a fairly well known place here in KC. The staff didn't keep track of the reserved room and the customers didn't have the decency to at least wait until after the gifts.

That doesn't mean everyone is that way.

I agree and I never said they were. Fame or perceived fame is something that is taken far too seriously in this culture in my opinion.

I get ya.I guess I just don't get all worked up over seeing someone famous.I mean once you go to a bunch of autograph signings (as I have)...you start to not even feel anything different about them at all. They are all normal everyday people. The only two things different from them and you is that they are better than you at something and they make a whole hell of a lot more money than you do.If you can get over that(which I find it pretty easy to do) then its no different than seeing a some random person in some random place. And I gotta say...its pretty boring after that.

I guess I just never felt that I had much of a reason to talk to any of them for an extended period of time.I may small talk when I am getting an auto every once in a while but I don't try to act like I know the guy. When I met Bagwell I didn't really say a whole lot.I am a huge fan and I consider myself a super collector of his but honestly...I can't imagine him caring one way or the other. There are probably about 10 zillion people here in Houston who could and would say the same thing.

Never met any sports stars but I did sit at the table right in front of Bon Jovi at Game Works in Minneapolis a few years ago. He was there eating lunch with his family.

I saw Carlos Zambrano at the Six Flags up here a few days after the Bartman ball game. Kinda felt bad for him, he looked like he just wanted to ride some roller coasters but was being mobbed

Only baseball player I've seen in public was Al Reyes. He was walking into the mall by the Harbor after an O's/Rays game and I held the door for him and he said thanks. wooooo.

Coco Crisp was just walking down the street once. He looked really... normal.
