This may be out there, but what if we sponsored a UFC fighter for a televised fight every so often? Blowout does it once and a while. We could maybe get the guys to do public signings at the shop sometime before their fight.

Granted it may only interest a few members on the board, but it would get FCB's name out there on TV at least...

Despise the "sport" but not a bad idea.

I don't know the exact prices, but for a fighter like that guy, it isn't terribly expensive. I know there is a post about this on the MMA boards. I can find it later

way to break the first rule, dipshit ;)

But it doesn't exist yet, so I'm not breaking any rules yet. However, if we go for it, I expect this post to be deleted :)

my fave ideas so far:

Card death match
FCB base sets, done eTOPPS style (only 99 per card, first to mail the SASE, 1st to get it).

Or here's my idea (done like radio stations).
It's a match game.
You create a grid, each box has a "card" with a prize..
You name 2 of the boxes.
If they match, you win the prize revealed.
If they don't - the crowd sees the overturned cards for 24 hours;
then the shown cards are removed by the mods.
his will keep people coming back every day to take notes on the revealed cards.

Similar to your "secret code" giveaway last Fall;
you release a hidden code in some thread that allows you to be the guest guesser of the day.
This could go on for day or weeks without getting dull.

It might already, but people follow the first rule, so you may or may not have heard about it yet, if it does exist ;)

Blanning kicked the **** out of me on my first night

I don't know if it would "liven" things up but I always thought it would be a cool project to create a picture database of every single card made. Beckett tried this at one point and I think they've since given up, but we have so many people on these boards who have some awesome and rare cards. Wouldn't it be cool to say that we had the most complete database of scans in the world? This type of project would include people from all across the collecting spectrum, not just prospectors or player collectors. Sure, it would involve some work from management in terms of getting the database set and securing some more storage space but I think it would be pretty cool to be able to view scans of some really rare cards without having to go through too much trouble searching for them.

That would be kinda neat to do. Hard part would be getting everyone motivated enough to do it.

Love this idea

yeah i remember it was me, you and someone else and we were talking about how much it would be to "Sponsor" a fighter and get the FCB logo on his shorts.

I think the discussion was in the thread from the last pay-per-view, from the thread about the George St. Pierre fight i believe.

Does anyone know what "target audience" is? People who watch MMA PPV events aren't a sportscard message board's target audience.

How about a banner at the NFL Experience or Cooperstown HOF induction weekend? That would be much better

I think it has to do with the cost$ of say a banner at HOF induction weekend. Someone was saying the logo on the shorts of a mid-level MMA fighter is only a few hundred dollars where a big banner at HOF weekend would be thousands id imagine.

NFL Experience would cost much less.

How about an outfield banner for a month at the local minor league park (Gwinnett Braves I guess?) advertising the shop/site?

a forehead south of your moms belly button
so from what i have gathered is we all want freebies... if freebies wont do then give us discounts...

cgilmore: i shot you the two ideas i had and one is not to your liking is fine and i still dont have a bright hunters orange name sooooo i am assuming you dont like that one either...

1. what about this we get some smiley emoticons off to the right that say "whuuuuuuut" and "heeelloooo".
2. how bout we stop linking to blogs? if someones got something to say make them post it here! i shouldnt have to traverse the interweb!
3. join some of the bryce harper or other same threads. christ some really really good threads have dropped because 13 people want to tell us bryce harper has a baseball card. zomg.
4. the threads that do the best are always the interactive ones (post your name, photo) and the threads where there is beef. why not put the two together. a rome like baseball board smackoff? let the beef fly in one thread. no holds barred... keep the swear filter on whatever

i honestly dont think the place needs to be livened up just let the hobby do its thing because forcing action never gives you the kind of action you desire.

How about "Hello my name is" stickers with the FCB logo on them for the National. Board members could stop by the FCB booth and get one to put their username and/or real name on which would make it easy to identify board members for those that attend. I may not even go and this really has nothing to do with livening up things around here, but it was an idea I had and didn't want to start a thread for it :P :D

Group buy of an Iconic card?

It'd be like buying stock in the FCB company. The shareholders would determine when to sell and for how much. That card could be displayed at the header of the website.

That has been in the works for a few months now.
