I bought this on eBay....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... K:MEWNX:IT

I couldn't make out what the hologram stamp was on the uncirculated sticker, but I knew it wasn't Topps. So, I was just buying this with the assumption that the seller has "made" some uncirc cards and I'd just crack the case and so what. For the price it was fine.

However, upon receipt, it turns out it's a NaxCom The Pit sticker. So, my questions are:

1.) Why would these cards (he has a bunch of them from 05 Bowman / BC) have been released this way via The Pit?

2.) Does it help the value at all or am I safe to just remove the cases and topload them? Of note, I also bought a Bowman White Uncirc and one corner has a ding - so much for uncirculated. Seems like a big scam to me = no additional value.

ThePit.com was run and owned by Topps in 2005, and it was where all of those Green Refractors came from.

When Naxcom bought thePit, I assume that inventory came with it.

Okay - post thanked. Sounds like eTopps a bit.

Now what about the second question? My guess is that this does not impact value whatsoever, especially considering the one uncirc seems to be dinged anyway.

Nope, every green refractor in 2005 was distributed in that "uncirculated" case. Cases on the secondary market can "peel" open with relative ease as the sticker just comes up with no evidence on certain cases.

And just like cards in packs, some of these also came out with light scratches, dings, etc.

Prob not on eBay as much as at a show but I have seen instances where someone would pay a little more for a nice uncirculated card with a scratch-free case.

Yeah those were box topper redemptions I believe. I had a bunch from 2003 when I built the set by the box. I didn't have any good ones, or so I thought, til Chien Ming-**** got hot. I had his blue refractor on the pit. So I got it off there and sold for around $150. I was surprised!!
