This is the first year I haven't opened a single pack of BC. Zero interest this year.

I've heard this alot.
I have my first 2 boxes coming this week to my new place in VA, and I've purchased some slots in a Player Draft Case Break.

Honestly, the single sales are really strong. I don't understand how the wax is so low.

For me, its just become so stale and uninteresting. The one thing I look forward to is pulling some cool gold, orange, red, low numbered stuff. Gives the product some excitement. With this years odds, its just not that appealing.

Maybe some BDP, but not sure yet.

Singles are usually strong but still don't make up the bulk of a normal break. This yea,r there's a good chance of only losing 25-50% of the case break. :)

Only thing I have busted is one WalMart Value pack that has the 3 Green Xfractors.

Honestly, I think they look awesome and wouldn't mind doing that set.

amazing that these places stay in business.

And that people shop there.

I bought 6 cases, I caved. Got it down to $420 per to by avoiding ebay/paypal fees. I'm happy at $35 a box.

[quote="ALL_THE_HYPE":265pxuq2]Why are so many people listing so many cases right now?

THAT has caused the big drop in price, not a lack of quality of the product or anything like that. Just completely stupid by dealers, flooding the market loses them a lot of money.

obviously many dealers have a lot of cases and can't afford to sit on them. they have to move them for whatever they can get to keep cash flow going. they have no choice but to dump.

it's also a certainty that big distributers are dumping cases any way they can, and the price would have crashed no matter what end-dealers did with their preordered cases.

blame topps. blame big distributers. don't blame dealers.

The price may have dropped a little bit, but there's no way it drops $200+ in two weeks if there had only been 5 cases listed per week instead of 50. Simple economics say that when supply exceeds demand, price goes down. This is an obvious case of that.[/quote:265pxuq2]

The product is 1 week old. Demand goes down too.[/quote:265pxuq2]

I'm not sure what you're saying here. Can you clarify?

Even if demand drops a little bit (which I'm not sure is something that will happen as soon as the first week), we're talking about a 30%+ drop in price. That's a monster drop, and not one that I think likely to be caused by a drop in demand over one week.

The ultra-flooded market is the number one cause of the price drop.

yes but the market would be flooded with or without ebay. disparity between supply and demand is so large it wouldn't matter how many cases are listed. distributers would still be dumping. price would still be crashing on dealernet and from blowout, altanta etc. in this case ebay prices are just a symptom, not the cause.

From my take on it, I think this is a unique situation. If you looked at most of the online retailers, they had their pricing still at $800-$900 while Atlanta and a few other ebay stores started dumping cases at $600 and less. This was all happening around release day. Even Topps Chrome didn't see prices drop that drastically around release. If you checked prices for TC, it was a gradual fall, but it was pretty even. BC saw some crazy numbers across the big online retailers on it's first few days on the market.

I'd still like to know what cost is on a case of BC or TC direct from Topps. That would help put some perspective on what's going on and what to expect moving forward.

Topps Chrome - $51.65

Bowman Chrome - $51.78

Both are Factory Direct costs, as in Hobby Stores.

If you are looking to bust for profit, Bowman Chrome's price is going to need to plummet.

Of the 39 autographs inserted, 14 of them are currently going for under $5 on average. 35% of the inserted autographs yield a 10% or less return on your box price, if you bought-in at $50 per box (which most people didn't).

It's over $620 a case direct from Topps... everyone selling BC is taking a loss. It doesn't matter what online retailers were listing it at, the price is plummeting. If they all list at $899, its not going to bring the price up. None will sell. The price blowout and such list at has little to no effect on the market value of the case.

We have yet to see anything in my opinion as the big guys with mountains of cases haven't started dumping yet, and when they do, it's going to be ugly.

I understand that...my point is, this is a different kind of situation than normal. Meaning, you can tell from the prices people are listing that they can't keep up with the changes. When TC was dropping like a brick, everyone was pretty consistent with dropping their prices around the same time. But with BC, it's been a mixed bag. Even DA still has their prices up at $735 where everyone else is under $600. Yes yes...I know you can get it cheaper on ebay. That's not what I'm getting at. I'm trying to put the pieces together some trends as we move into BDP.
