I gave some of Freddie Freeman cards to his Aunt and Uncle. His first year Bowman and Bowman chrome.
It was his Great Uncle I knew. That man had some great baseball stories. He was a bat boy for the Boston Red Sox in the late 40's early 50's. He had some baseball auto's of Ted Williams that were amazing. Someday in a different forum I will tell some stories and about I got to know a little about Freddie and the great kid he and his family is.

I was told that I outbid Alberto Bastardo on his own Superfractor. Kind of made me feel bad and I would have offered it to him if I could figure out what his user name is. Unfortunately I found out months after I bought the card.

Nice story on Ziegler in recent Beckett Baseball mag. He also collects Ryan Howard his former college teammate and Pujols who he played against in High School.
Quite a few player's collect/keep their game used stuff (not cards).

Not baseball, but the Panther's RB DeAngelo Williams collects his game used patch cards. Not sure how actively he buys them now but he has in the past.

I remember reading in an interview with him a few years ago, I believe it was a Playboy interview, that Barry Zito collected his own certified auto cards because "they are certified."

Just this morning I listed a Tyler Sample Elite Auto #d 5/10 and His Dad purchased it...
We exchange a couple of emails today.. He told me that he was looking for most of his Rare cards and is already aware of the Super that listed and that he was gonna go real hard for it..

Also..If anyone has any of his BCDP printing plate.. or even his Elite Auto 1/1.. LMK.. I told him I would help locate what I can for them.

Then just mail it to him with DC and insurance and He would be eternally grateful to you!

Not Baseball, but Jonathon Cheechoo and his dad actively buy his cards (inperson and on ebay) and other players cards (have ran into both of them together at the card shop about 1 year ago). Also Joe Thorntons mom and dad regularly attend the Toronto expo and buy their son cards (not sure if they buy off ebay).

Jason Donald, his dad (my world history teacher/baseball coach), uncle, and I constantly were on the lookout for his cards in 2006-2007.

We helped each other out- I helped Jay out with finding an 06 draft red refractor /5 of him.

I was bummed because I haven't seen any of the other 4 anywhere and I gave him the only red to have surfaced.

But naturally, he paid me exact cost of the card to me, promised me if any 1/1's (especially the 06 draft superfractor) popped up he would call me and let me know and/or buy it and give it to me. He also signed like 210 06 draft cards for me and gave e 70-80 06 chrome draft base cards.

Anyways. His dad still buys cards but we always communicate so we dont bid up each other. Jay is too busy to buy a lot but he does buy his player lots of 06 draft base to sign and include with TTM's so your return us 2/1

Good Guy.

I've sold cards to Chris Resop's father and Ryan 'Space Needle' Anderson's father, and I outbid Ryan Spilborgh's mother for one of his cards. I felt bad about that, but it was a rare card, and I NEEDED it, whereas she only WANTED it.

I wonder if I'd buy my own cards if I was a ballplayer. Probably. It must be weird, though, paying a lot of money for pictures of yourself (my cards would be hugely expensive), especially autographs.

I remember reading in football becketts when they interviewed the players at the NFL Rookie Premier (where all the card companies got the photos and autos). And a lot of the players said that they either have collected cards since they were a kid, or now they want to start because they're finally on them.
