Good afternoon gentlemen...

I have an issue I am trying to clear up. Would like to hear your advice...

There was a card I sold in Ebay. Did my own thing - followed the rules. Mailed it properly. Suddenly 2 weeks later, a buyer emails me that he hasn't gotten it. Last Friday I replied that I did mail it. Maybe the package is running late. And let me know later in the week...

Here's what he replied minutes ago:
"hi,today's 03/29/10 & nothing as of yet, do you have a tracking number,if so email it to me.? if by any reason I do not get my item within this week I will have no other choice but to open a dispute/claim with ebay & paypal & leave negative feedback. thanks, yours truly, Junior."

First of all, he never asked me for a tracking number. I am not willing to spend few more dimes and pennies for a tracking number. Does that mean it's my fault? Should I reimburse the money back to him? Or try to negotiate with him for what?

It costs 1.58 or so to mail thru Paypal.com with tracking for a single card (1-2oz). I think the burden may be on you to provide proof of delivery. Not completely sure, but that's what I would argue.

I don't know, man. How much was the card in question sold for? If just a couple bucks, I wouldn't bother. If it's expensive... well, you might be SOL. DC is only a buck, if that, and you really should add it to all purchases, although I suppose there's no way to prove that a specific item was mailed, just a general package.

Unfortunately, sending without DC means you have no leg to stand on as far as eBay/PayPal are concerned.

You may be better off just refunding him and apologizing if you want to avoid the neg.

"Following the rules", as I understand it, means using tracking numbers if you don't want hassles like this. If you can't prove you mailed it, you will be found liable, and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Sorry man. I hope it wasn't an expensive card.

DC# is $0.19 a the PO, and $0.18 through PayPal, I believe.

I Ship with paypal and since it's only $0.19 for tracking, I would say your SOL..

Did you go to the post office to mail it, or just throw some stamps on it and throw it in a mailbox..

If you have the receipt from the post office, you might be able to hold him at bay.. otherwise, you are going to have
to refund his $$..

Good luck,

How could a seller prove that a card was actually mailed? It's not like it'd be hard to slap a DC on an empty envelope. Always wondered about this, but I guess ebay/paypal has to draw the line somewhere.

My feedback is over 5500, and it's 99.9%...

The card was $45... Alright, listening to you guys, I would have to change my shipping manners from now on. I will add DC.

I will try to avoid the neg feedback then. Thanks for the luck ::facepalm::

Assuming that your card DID arrive (because it's not like the PO loses mail very often), its kinda lame that someone would go through the effort of scamming you out of $40. I guess I'll always be a bit naive and never understand how people can look themselves in the mirror pulling crap like that.

7 cents a sheet for the labels (at most)
19 cents for DC when you print through Paypal
I don't know how much printer ink costs, but it's got to be less than 4 cents per label, right?

That means you can ship with DC for about 30 cents a package. Been doing it for over 5 years, and it's the easiest way to go.

When shipping through Paypal DC is automatic. I don't think there's an option to decline it. You have 5500 feedback and don't ship through Paypal?

I can buy labels in any Staples or Walmart right? I am getting alittle tired of going to Post Office...
