I probably wouldn't buy those cards simply because I'm not a Meyers collector and 50 bucks is more than I'd spend on a rookie. But I'm not here to go to shops and shows and baby sit people either.

And in any case, even if I get a great deal, cards don't leave my collection so I'm not really gaining too much. It'd probably make up for all the stuff I've overpaid for in the past.

In both situations I would handle it the same way. I would ask if some sort of mistake was being made and if the asking price was correct. I would not voluntairly offer what the card(s) sellf for but rather just question if the card(s) prices are accurate. If this leads the seller(s) to inquire as to if they may be making a mistake, I would tell them so, and why. If they say the prices listed are accurate then I would purchase them without hesitation or lack of sleep. This is not just lip service eithor as I have done both over the years without regret.

I own a hobby store & would never ever expect a stranger or even a "once in a while customer" to tell me I'm way off with a price.

Its NOT their job to educate me, thats for me to do. Its my store (cards), my livelihood & the only one responsible for it constantly is me.

Fair game. Come on. Know your product. If you don't know the value of what you are selling, you shouldn't sell things for a living. Find a new way to make a living.

You have to buy every time. Let's say you want to buy a card that the dealer has priced at $100 which is what the card used to sell at but it currently goes for $40 - $50 and they forgot to update the price. Do you honestly think they are going to "educate" you and sell the card for the current going rate? Absolutely not.

^ What he said. I would buy everytime. I think it would be hard for a dealer to check there common bins for cards that have gone up.
The shops in my area are pretty good on singles prices its the wax they charge an arm, leg and kitchen sink for.

I buy from dealers and eBayers at the prices they set. I deal with those who aren't knowledgeable much differently though.

I would buy both as dealers they should have the latest technology and see who is hot on EBAY or elsewhere..

I have a free app I use when I am out and about for my droid.. they should as well..

If they set the price, I see nothing wrong with buying for whatever amount they have posted. In my opinion, it does becomes dishonest when a potential buyer knowingly lies about value and tells the dealer it's only worth $50 if they know it's worth $500 (Didn't we have a situation like that on the board a while back?). At the same time, it is the dealer's job to know this stuff and price their cards on their own.

I would look at the seller. Is it a true dealer, who should know better? I might take it off his hands. Is it a dad and his son that set up at a show I frequent that I've never seen there before? I would probably clue them in (especially on the Trout).

It's the same on eBay: if I see an online store/mega-dealer with a steal, I hit the BIN; if it's a 500 FB or less guy, I drop them a note and alert them to the error (could be a fat-finger type job upon listing). I've even hit BINs with obvious errors in typing ($9.99 when he's got multples listed at $99.99) and then just canceled the transaction for them.

Bottom line: if it's your job to know better, you should; if it's your hobby, I'll cut you some slack.

I would screw up this steal and not get it because.

I would not be able to get my money out of my pocket fast enough, since my hands would be shaking. making him think I'm going to hold up the place. Then he would pullout his Glock as he trips the silent alarm. And when the cops arrive I would be hauled off to jail, since I was trying to steal those from him in the first place. FML.

I am not in the business of ripping people off but if you do this for a living and can't price your product accordingly that isn't my problem.

Now if I go to purchase something and the dealer says I screwed up on the price tag then I respect that and move on.It is a pain in the rear to pour over every card in inventory repricing them as needed.

I agree with the understanding that there are exceptions. Some of you may recall years ago when some kid bought a Nolan Ryan rookie that was marked 1200 and lied and said it was $12 and the person filling in didn't know any better and the kid knew it. That's just wrong. I think when you walk in a shop, the prices are the prices, good or bad. It's because of that reason I often skip tables or just look quickly if there are no prices. Quite often my interest in a card is primarily based on the price.
