Do what ever you want, think whatever you want, say whatever you want, it doesn't really matter much does it? I always thought I was because it said so in my sig. ::facepalm::

On another note, does anybody know what happened to the Bonderman collector? He had a very impressive collection and just seemed to vanish a little over a year or so ago. He seemed to be very dedicated in showing off his new stuff and than he's gone. I always wondered if maybe something bad had happened to him.

Sorry Pred, wont ever happen for you as long as I own this 1/1: ;) ...
Unless destroyed, every card in your collection will belong to someone else at some point. Every one.
edit...I guess you could have them buried with you. Ha.

BTW, I've been collecting ball cards for a very long time and I have a super collection. ;)
Mine are going to the Smithsonian.

Mine are going to the nolan ryan foundation ;)

The card companies have ultimately made it impossible to collect every card of the player. As an example with my B. Robby collection they make more cards of him in one year than they did in his entire playing career...and he's been retired for over 30 years! I personally don't really have too much of a problem with it since it always gives me more items to look for and then obtaining at least some of them.

Astroburn is correct...someone else will "ultimately" have the cards that you have once owned (for a season)...eventually. Hey, you might as well give that 1/1 Bagwell to pred now; why wait?!? (Just kidding of course... ;) Then he'll still have an opportunity of owning them all.

Nolan ryan had 2000 different cards produced during his career (27 years long). In 2005, he had 2600 different.

I consider myself a Daisuke supercollector. I was willing to spend 250$ on a card of his, thats something a supercollector would do if they REALLY wanted the card for their collection.

Yep, that's basically true. But I have two thoughts on that.

1) The chase is what it's all about. If it was easy, I wouldn't have any interest. I'd knock out the collection, get bored of it, and dump it.

2) You can get pretty darned close. There are guys here with much more impressive collections than I have. But consider that Vizquel has about 2,270 cards, and about 360 are 1/1's. Of those 1/1's, the majority are crap- printing plates and 2005 Diamond Kings. That leaves less than 2,000 non-1/1 cards. Of those, I'm missing about 40. That's pretty cool, but it makes me crazy that I can only find 1-2 cards I need per year now. So at that pace, I'll still be busy for quite a few years and wouldn't have it any other way!

When you're in the Top 10 on the PSA Registry.
that's not a very tough challenge for some player collectors

I'm ranked 14 for my Master and 13 for my Basic Aaron collections. While I consider myself a big collector of his, I don't really think of myself as an Aaron supercollector (yet). So I guess that definition holds up in this case. :)

VizquelCollector... That's a pretty impressive Vizquel collection! Great player to collect by the way; I think he has to be one of the best shortstops EVER!

Aren't the card companies including Vizquel in some of the recent sets? I was mentioning earlier that Brooks Robinson has more cards produced in one year than he had during his entire career and he's been retired for over 30 years. bouwob stated that "Nolan ryan had 2000 different cards produced during his career (27 years long). In 2005, he had 2600 different." With that many being produced it's impossible to aquire them all...but you're right the hunt is fun. For me personally I just pick up the cards I like and don't purchase anything I don't; I don't have to have them "all".

Do you try and aquire all of the Ryan cards, or just the issues you like? I assume you like the test issues as well since you have the candy lid pictured...

Not too many, unfortunately. He was in Topps this year but nothing else. So counting the base card and non-1/1 variations, there were 8 total.

I've picked up 2 cards on my want list since last fall. :(

12K...that's a lot of Red Sox cards (any specifics...or just general RS cards).

VizquelCollector...since there's not too many cards available of Vizquel have you considered adding another individual to collect, or maybe look at other Vizquel items to collect (memorabilia)? I would have thought that they would be placing him in a lot of newer issues. I know the older star players are in a lot of the new sets...

I sure hope Omar starts popping up in some sets once he retires. I would love to see him in a few high-end products someday. Maybe paired up with Aparicio, for instance.

I actually also have PC's of both Charles Nagy and John McDonald. Not counting 1/1's, I'm missing 7 Nagy's and 1 McDonald. :(

I collect virtually any Vizquel memorabilia I can find, but the latest venture has been tracking down season tickets from every game Vizquel played in. It's fun but pricey. I'm staring at a brand new checklist with a million holes wondering "How and where in the heck am I gonna be able to find all these?"

WoW...that would be quite an endeavor to collect all the tickets from the games Omar played in and like you said, it would be quite expensive. I guess you'd have plenty of items to aquire that's for sure. There's a few good avenues for guys that collect/sell tickets...may want to check that out.

I'm sure he has to be destined for more sets in the future. I'd agree some cards with Aparicio (one of my favorites) and I personally really liked Belanger (underated in my opinion). Of course you can always go along side Ripken as well. So...that begs the question; BEST EVER defensive shortstop?!? What's your opinion? (It's gotta be one of the O's! :D)

No way you are going to track down all of those tickets. It took me a month and a half just to track down a Descalso ticket from ths year. You are trying to track down 15 year old tickets.

I do have a Vizquel IP auto. I was thinking my other was Nagy after reading your post, but it is not. It's Chad Ogea. I could have had a Thome too, but didn't have a card with me.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Although more than a few people have put together comprehensive collections for Bonds, Ripken, Jr, etc., you're probably right. But I'm a persistent and resourceful guy. In about 2 years I've picked up season tickets from about 650 different games that Omar has played in, with hundreds more to trade. He's played in about 2,900 games, so I'm sitting at well over 20% already. I feel pretty confident that I can easily hit at least 2,000, if not 2,500.

There are a ton of tickets available if you know where to look. If that Descalso ticket was from this year, odds are I could have found it down in a week or so. And for what it's worth, I'm hunting tickets that are up to 23 seasons old...

I was not trying to slam your collection. Im just saying don't expect to find every ticket. The 3rd time I posted on craigslist it took me an hour. I talked to Lenny Steren. Who is like a ticket guru or something.
