After seeing what the post that I quoted said... all I can say is ROFL. Apparently he is effected by the same problem I am having.

Except that by "more organization" it sounds like people want more subforums. When population is small - the last thing you want to do is spread it out. The complaints in here about the number of threads really seems like a lot of "Personal Problems".

I see what you're saying, but the lack of organization may be keeping people away. A balance between many subforums and no subforums may work best.

People like being able to select the content they choose instead of having content pushed to them.

Threads being at the top is "pushing content"? I just don't understand all of the disdain for how message boards have worked.. well.. almost forever.

? Pushing content = making content available to people who aren't interested in said content.

Typically people go to specific message boards that relate to their interests, there are many different interests represented on one board in FCB. Baseball cards have become complicated.

Well. I see complaints in here about threads about pickups... which is clearly baseball card hobby related.
I see complaints about prospecting... which is baseball card hobby (business) related.
I see complaints about MLB and player performance... which has a direct link/affct on hobby collecting.

I mean, if you're interested in baseball/collecting - then these all seem right up your alley. If you're not interested in this content, then I don't think there's ANYTHING the board as a whole can do to make you happy.

Everything is still about baseball and/or baseball cards though.

I don't see what the big deal. Are people really slow readers, so reading the title of a thread they aren't interested costs them way more than it costs me? I don't get it. I just read the title, think meh and move on to the next title. It's not that much of a pain. I love it here and I have 0 interest in prospects, especially since nobody is ever excited about any Indians prospects.....

Perfect example of what happens with sub-forums. A bunch of members said they wanted a vintage trading/transaction board and that if there was one, they'd be in there all the time. One year later, it looks like people post in there two or three times a month.

Sub forums die because people realize how few of them there are to make it work.

While some are saying less is better, I believe the opposite is true.

People seem to not be finding content that appeals to them. If all you are interested in is 1/1s (example), then start a thread that is strictly about 1/1s. Then there will always be at least 1 thread of total interest to you.

I'm a lifelong Reds fan. I love the Cincinnati Reds. So I started a thread. I check it daily. I look forward to seeing that thread when I come here. I think people should do the same.

If it's sketch cards, short prints, certain years, certain sets, certain parallels, or whatever. Get the discussion going.

I get bored at times, it's a natural cycle. I just decided that I am going to start threads about things I enjoy because then I always have something to check out. By starting these threads, I have found other people who share similar interests and enjoy discussing those interests.

What operating system, type of device and browser are you using that is giving you this issue?
Also, you quoted someone totally at random? LOL!

I was quoting a the first post looking up that I couldn't read because of the scroll bars
I'm on an XP Professional with IE 8.0.6

I have no problem with the new format.

My complaints are minor - to view your posts, if you are on the "new posts" screen you have to go back to the main forum page, dislike of layout differences for PMs, etc.

I like the option to change the number of posts per page.

Should we start a fat player collectors thread? I've got some great stuff of Sabathia, and Jason "Thunder Thighs" Jennings isn't too thin either!

Babe Ruth can tie in the vintage, Vogelbach for the prospects.

yep, I verified that my home PC works just fine. I'll try the Java thing tomorrow. Since I mostly visit during the day, whatever has caused the scroll bars was definitely cutting down the attractiveness of visiting the boards.
