I have learned how to navigate okay...but my question(which may have already been answered before in another thread) is why did the change come about. Sometimes, and this isn't directed at Gilmore necessarily, I think people use technology just for the sake of using said technology with no real purpose behind it. I know a zillion people that would rather post on facebook or twitter than just call people they know or go see them and make direct contact. It's really weird. The weirder thing is people eat it up like it's ice cream. Somebody would rather spend 2 hours texting you than the 5 minutes it would take for the conversation to transpire over the telephone. Or use email instead of calling. Technology surely has it's purpose. But sometimes...people get carried away.

I've said it a few times, may specifically quoting you.

The old software was limping. It took too much work too keep it going, and every time it crashed we were in danger of losing posts up to the last backup. When a database gets corrupted, it takes a miracle to fix. Quite frankly fixing it was beyond my skill level, and beyond the skill level of anyone I could pay to do the migration.

Sorry. That was many beers ago. I forget things.. In any case...so we're good now right?

And as I said, most of my post above was not directed at you. I guess I just don't like technology much anymore. My parents dreaded having to learn how to use a computer. I dread these new smartphones and social networking sites where people have left actual interaction at the door. Honestly, believe it or not, I'd much prefer to sit around with a cold beer in my hand and talk cards with all of you in person than on this board. Geographically that isn't possible. I'm cool with that. But when my cousin gets engaged and tells me she posted it on facebook instead of calling...it gets a little weird. Especially since she live 30 minutes away.

I don't mind the new look, but man I hate that bar that stays at the top of the screen.

LOL I was looking the site up on Alexa and this was the Audience Snapshot:

Based on internet averages, freedomcardboard.com is visited more frequently by males who are in the age range 25-34, have no children and have no college education.

I stopped posting because I couldn't get my old account to transfer over. I emailed the system administrator like it said to do if I was having problems and haven't heard anything back. So 2 tears and a bucket I guess

I am sorry guys...but I am tired of the "where are all the threads?" threads.

Here is an idea....start one. Share some news. Talk about your collection. Show some pics.

"I used to wonder why somebody did not do something to change the situation...then I realized that I am somebody"

Its our board. Chris is nice enough to do the work for us, but its not his problem to fix (technical issues aside). Let's create threads that people want to read instead of complaining that there are not any.

I don't post as much anymore. A: the site feels too much like blowout to me now, and B: not as interested in the hobby. No products out there for me anymore.

New site is great on tapatalk, you guys should check into it.

I find the new site better, all except the quote feature. Sucks only being able to quote one reply. I find this is destroying long convos.

Ps, Its 1256 am and it says 456am for me :(

Not sure if this is what you mean or not, but next to the Reply With Quote there is a little quotation marks icon with a + sign next to it. You can go through a thread and hit that button to quote multiple posts through the thread.

Lance, is that what you meant? Go through and hit the Multi-Quote This Message icon and then click on Reply With Quote after you have selected all of the messages you want to quote.

Wish the new board had a nosterbor translator :)
