Why do the Angels need Konerko? Their OF is set and Morales is the 1B. I guess they wouldn't be bringing back Guerrero

I fail to see how that has any benefit for the Angels. Not sure either team would have the prospects to get the deal done, especially after the White Sox system was weakened by the Peavy trade.

The Padres love Jordan Danks's profile.

He fits the mold in what they want out of an out fielder.

You wonder why the Angels might make this move?

Well, you really want to know? The Angels LOVE Konerko and always have. The scouting director for the Angels Eddie Bane is a HUGE fan of Konerko and has been licking his chops for years in hope that the Angels will land him.

When I was with the Angels I was doing some statistical analysis, rating each every day player by position. I had Konerko 9th or 10th I believe, before I could turn in my findings, Eddie made me move Konerkop into the top 5.

Eddie is also a Cali guy, and has long ties with him.

Yes, I realize that he is not the GM, and does not make that decision. But, the Angels are a well run organization and they all have input into potential trade targets.

As a Twins fan this isn't something i like to hear, but I think it was a smart move by the ChiSox and Angels.

I have heard as much about the Angels and Konerko's willingness to go there as Kenny Williams' man crush on Figgins. Every offseason you hear about Figgins, but never happens. Now Kenny flat out says he's not going there money wise.

My stomach is turning with my prospects I have stashes of going to SD, but as a Sox fan I'm thrilled. We will see.

This makes almost no sense for either the Padres or the Angels. I really dont get it at all...Unless the package is something along the lines of Beckham, Hudson, Flowers (to SD) and Konerko (to the Angels) this reeks of a terrible, terrible idea. I dont think this will ever top "speculation" though.

Don't forget that the Angels are loosing Vlad to free agency and need a new Dh.

I am thinking along the lines of::::

To Sd:
Hudson
Flowers
Jose Arredondo
Brandon wood

To Anaheim: Konerko
To CWS: Adrian Gonzalez

Thats just not enough from the Chi Sox in my mind and WAY WAY too much from the Angels. Ignoring the salaries of each player (which again would be an ENORMOUS win for Chicago), that trade is way uneven from a talent perspective.

I really thought the Red Sox would make another run at Gonzo. He is the most underappreciate star in MLB! Can you imagne what kind of damage he would do In Yankee Stadium, Fenway or Phillies ball park?!?! What about Coors?

that seems pretty realistic to me Matt

Honestly, if anything, the White sox would keep one of their prospects and the Angels would need to add to the deal.

We'll see.

It would take WAY WAY WAY more than that to get Gonzalez from the Padres, Flowers would be a p;ayer they want but unless it involves Beckham or some stud arms the Pads will just hold onto him.

That would be true if the Padres made intelligent moves with their players... they'll end up giving him away if history is an example. I hope they don't, but I don't have much faith in the Padres FO lately (even though they have mixed things up there lately).
