I really dont get it at all...Unless the package is something along the lines of Beckham, Hudson, Flowers (to SD) and Konerko (to the Angels) this reeks of a terrible, terrible idea. I dont think this will ever top "speculation" though.
Don't forget that the Angels are loosing Vlad to free agency and need a new Dh.
I am thinking along the lines of::::
To Sd:
Hudson
Flowers
Jose Arredondo
Brandon wood
To Anaheim: Konerko
To CWS: Adrian Gonzalez
Thats just not enough from the Chi Sox in my mind and WAY WAY too much from the Angels. Ignoring the salaries of each player (which again would be an ENORMOUS win for Chicago), that trade is way uneven from a talent perspective.
You think Arredondo and Wood is WAY TOO MUCH for Paul Konerko? Really?
I would do that trade in a heart beat[/quote:2waeawtm]
Do I think Wood and Arredondo are too much for a 34 year old (when the season starts) DH who makes $12M and will put up .270/.350/.460/.810 stats with around 25 HRs and 90 RBIs? Absolutely..It's moot really since there is a 0.0001% chance that Hudson and Flowers are enough for Adrian Gonzalez. Due to his team-friendly contract, age, and defensive ability, Gonzalez is in the top 5 most valuable players in baseball. Add the fact that he is the face of the franchise in SD and that he is from SD, and you understand why it has been said that it would take 3-4 top prospects to acquire him.
