I think this message board will be happy if the BBWAA were allowed to vote in active players. Like they did in 1936 or 37...

I think the op may have meant first ballot selections. I agree with the following except the guys linked to roids may not get in on the first try (or second, or third, or fourth...).

Ken Griffey Jr
Derek Jeter
Albert Pujols
Alex Rodriguez
Manny Ramirez
John Smoltz
Randy Johnson
Ichiro
Mariano Rivera
Jim Thome

I would add Pudge and Trevor Hoffman to the list. How about Omar Vizquel? He may not be first ballot but if Ozzie Smith got in, Omar should be there as well. I think Posada gets in but not first ballot.

I would love to see Trammell and Whitaker get voted in by the old timers but that is the Tiger fan in me saying that.

I think Pudge will have a hard time getting in due to the steroid cloud that surrounds him...

I honestly have no idea why I put Maddux

I think sub-consciously I meant Chipper Jones.

Whoa.

look at the third column in this link.

Besides Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe, ALL elgible players not connected with steroids, with a score higher than 135 are in the HOF.

So we're going with Jeff Bagwell (149) being a lock? I wouldn't vote for him, but I'm a tight-*** with my votes.
I could possibly be convinced, but I'm not there:

4 time All-Star
ROY
one MVP
one Gold Glove
career .297 BA
2314 hits
449 HR

He was a decent HR hitter and RBI producer, but in the "steroid era" of which he has been suspected as well.

I'm saying good player, no to the HOF.

I know he is not a popular choice but I think Gary Sheffield will make first ballot. He has 500+ Hr plus he will add more next year and his stikeout to walk ratio is very very good (especially in todays game). The guy is an awsome contact hitter. Close to a .300 career hitter will probably end up with 2800+ hits and 530 Hrs.

What's with the rating on Robin Yount? Seriously low. This guy has 3000 hits, 2 MVP's (at two different positions) and many AS appearances. Although the rest of the list looks good (especially seeing Albert Belle and Mattingly as the bubble-measure) the Yount computation makes me question whatever algorithm is powering this.
