Put on your swami hats and predict who you think will be the Steve Slaton or Matt Forte of 2010.

I hate to say it because I love to watch Minn play when their clicking, but I think Percy Harvin is going to have a bad year. Migraines will keep him sidelined for a few games and Favre won't produce like last year as Rice isn't able to open the field up to lighten the coverage on Harvin.

Aint that the truth! I was thinking about this the other day. All these USC QB's get really hyped up but i dont ever really seeing one meet the expectations. Carson Palmer could soon.

Palmer is on a short list of USC grads who have had staying power in the NFL. For how many players they churn out, most would expect that the percentage of USC draftees succeeding would be higher.

DISCLAIMER: I only got into football heavily around 2004. I'm sure there are USC guys who are in the HOF. I'm talking current.

I almost said Sanchez. Honestly, I think he was overrated last year as he put up numbers that were comparable to Jamarcus Russell.

So because of the school he attended he will be a bust? That makes no sense...Sanchez is a good young QB who took his team to the play-offs last year, and USC has how many starting QB's in the league right now I think its 4 which isn't too shabby. Its an interesting original question that should be based on position, injury, opportunity, new draft picks etc....I also think Harvin is going to be no more or no less than last year which should be considered a slump (By the way Forte was hurt all last year but didn't want to seem soft so he tryed to play thru a knee and hamstring injury) There were not too many impact Rookies last year, but there was talent in that class.

Beanie Wells. With the loss of the stellar passing attack, I'm looking for the opposing defenses to play to really shut down the run. Along with Wells, add in Hightower, LSH, and anybody else lining up in the backfield. I guess it's not a slump, per se, but it's going to be a definite decrease in stats imo.

I also have this nagging feeling that Shonn Greene won't live up to expectations this year. I know you shouldn't base too much on pre-season performances but LT looked great in game 1. As the year progresses I can see him tearing the field up as he place with a major chip on his shoulder.

OK, ok I copped out on the reason. How's this?

I believe Sanchez to be an average at best QB. His stats are far from amazing (20 INT's) and he had Thomas Jones carrying the load last year (over 1400 and 331 carries). Jones is gone now, replaced by an aging Tomlinson and Shonn Green, who looked good the few times he carried but did not carry much.

If Tomlinson has a year similar to Jones, then I believe Sanchez will be just fine. It's easier to be an NFL QB when you have a running game capable of exploding with each touch. I do not believe Tomlinson will have that kind of year. So, Sanchez will slump.

Can I choose Cushing since he'll be suspended for a few games and not on roids this year?

My gut says Harvin since I don't think Farve will be as good as last year but he still has returns to make up for it.

Can Wells really have a Sophomore slump? His rookie year wasn't all that great.

For being a pass first offense with a two-back (three-back occasionally since LaRod would wriggle in every now and again), he put up almost 800 yards and a 4.5 ypc avg. I look for him to not make it to a 4.0 ypc this year.

I see the entire Arizona offense slumping in general. I think they just lost too many pieces over the off season.

which is fine by me :)

And me.

Agreed. The only problem is that the NFC West is weakened even more and looks like even more of a lame duck when compared to the other divisions.

meh. You know, I was thinking about this...for the last 5 years an NFC West team was in the Super Bowl. Now, I understand our division isn't the best, but we have been there right with other divisions.

Besides, people can sleep on the NFC west all they want... sure make that team look even worse when an NFC west team beats them! :)

I would say Sanchez, but he had a pretty terrible rookie campaign. 20 INTs on a team in the AFC championship game? Yeah, that doesnt happen often.

As for Harvin, he is going to have a very tough time living up to 2009. Favre may be back, but so are the migraines, and Chester Taylor is gone. Harvin was a favorite target of Favre on 3rd down, and with the defenses not having to account for Taylor out of the backfield as much, its going to be a lot tighter in the secondary. Then, when you also factor in that Favre probably wont come close to the year he had last year, Harvin's role will be that much more diminished. Rice will have another good year, but Shiancoe will usurp a lot of what Harvin did last year.
