From what I gather yes times 150 so he has all these worthless redemps.
SO he is trying to get at least a few decent cards instead of all crap
not a bad request

i'm not familiar with the brent vs topps situation. but i have bought singles from brent... he's great for singles within a few days of release. with my recent wax busting and redemption programs from topps i'm heavily leaning towards buying singles for awhile... so hopefully topps doesn't start killing off these guys too.

how long is this exclusive contract anyway?

out of the 10+ autos i've been shorted over the last two years i haven't even bothered filing a complaint, cuz if you try to do the online thing... they'll just make you do the mail thing... and after you jump through a hoop with one hand tied behind your back you'll get a joe shmoe auto or relic. so whats the point. that sounds like the story here... not enough joe shmoe auto relics to send brent 150.

not to worry we will help him out and give him his autographs.

I think the real question is, why is topps still using the same packaging company that has screwed up product
after product dating back to ginter last year with the Strasburg minis? It is obvious that autographs that were
supposed to get into hobby packs got thrown into retail packs.....that has to cost topps a ton, even if they are
only sending our 2 dollar replacements? Is topps going to change who packages and makes their cards?

Thanks
Kevin
Topps made the mistake themselves. Find a pack wrapper from a Hobby Box of GQ.

Autograph Group A 1/47 packs
Autograph Group B 1/57 packs
Autograph Group C 1/1064 packs
Autograph Group D 1/605 packs
Autograph Group E 1/1422 packs

Add those up and you get an auto from all 5 groups in 1 out of 24 packs. There are 24 packs in a box. So 1 autograph per box.

my favorite part is that until this thread, this huge screw job by topps had been largely forgotten.

no wonder they never change anything

The solution is always very simple.

Buy insurance?

Stop buying the product. If its this bad, its fairly simple to send a message and not buy anything.
just like how everyone stopped buying gas...oh wait...

people aren't going to stop buying products...especially when flopps is the only choice

If thats your analogy the issue isnt cards.

If you stop buying product, its fairly certain either topps will choose to change it up or go out of business.

Tim, I stopped buying in 2008, but that hasn't stopped every product since from selling out.

Well, then you're part of the solution, its just a shame more people arent.

This defintion of insanity seems to make sense here...

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

You say stop buying the product, but how is brentandbecca supposed to stay in business when they HAVE to continue to buy products that aren't living up to expectations.

I would be pissed too if I bought 40 cases of cards and didn't get AT LEAST the same customer service as the person that buys 1 box.

Who cares?

Not I.

I like Brent, but what he does with topps is his business.

I guess that's the way you see it.

This is the way I see it. I'm thinking about buying 1 box, so are hundreds of other people who are watching this situation go down. If they screw over the guy who buys 40 cases, I know I will get screwed. If they don't take care of their huge customers, why would they give two squirts about the little customers? Now the 100's of people who were going to buy boxes are not going to buy boxes. And I don't mean GQ. I'm talking about Topps products in 2011 and beyond.

I'm really kind of surprised Chris. It's like saying "what happens between shoeless joe and the customers he screws over with fake patches and autos.... that's the screwed over customers business." We don't say that, everybody gets pissed at shoeless joe and hopes he comes to the national so they can do something mean, like fart on him.

Then there are the countless threads about people getting screwed on ebay, or on trades. When somebody is screwing somebody else in the card world, it does kind of seem to be everybody's business. I appreciate being warned that this person is a bad seller who makes fake patches, this guy makes fake "chrome proofs", this guy makes fake buyback autos..... and this company screws over their customers no matter how much you buy or how loyal you are to them. Good to know.

This is exactly why I only buy singles. Everytime I get the bright idea to buy boxes, I get crap autos/inserts or I'm short one or one is damaged/badly off-centered. Better investment to just buy exactly the cards you want from someone else that took that risk.

Topps have given out some sweet Gypsy autos for missing hits. Red S HOF St. Louis Cardinal and Al Kaline. I don't think either was in product live or even on auto checklist. Seen people have gotten Bautista and pretty sure someone got a Sandy. So to say you will only get $1 from GQ is just stupid. All In posted the ones he got from Topps for his case breaks and he got some sweet ones.

Once again, the solution is simple. If you were selling widgets and your supplier was constantly selling you defective widgets or not honoring their part of the deal, would you stop selling them or continue to buy them since they are the only ones that sell them?

If you stop buying, Topps will be forced to quickly fix it or go out of business.

but how is the person supposed to continue business if the widget maker is the only person that they can buy widgets from?

So the person stops buying widgets and goes out of business. The widget maker just finds some other poor schmuck to sell the crappy widgets.

I'm not pro/anti-Topps, but this is stupid. When it comes down to it, I would spend my money on Goodwin before I would spend it on Allen & Ginter. I prefer Ginter, but who's to say that the same thing won't happen with that project?

How can you continue if the product doesnt deliver?

Once again, if you're ok with the way they do business, buy like its going out of style.

I hate to talk for Brent, but from what I have seen Brent does not need to do this to stay in business. He has the
disposable income to buy huge lots of cases and turn them around on ebay by selling sets and singles and from
what he tells me ALWAYS makes a profit. The part I don't like is that as a huge buyer he should have a bigger
voice when topps screws up. He has defended topps on numerous occasions when the products didn't meet
our expectiations wether it be by what was on the wrapper as odds, or what was on the presale checklist. That
I don't get.

It would really be nice to hear from topps what they are doing so that these errors don't happen again, and that we
can get better products. That would benifit all and maybe pull a few of these "guys who haven't busted wax since 08"
back on board.
