Why are Crusades so hot?

oh yeah I forgot to say compared to before which I payed slightly more for worse guys.
ok I will keep quiet for a while and see what happens. Im expecting when this bigger sellers stuff all dies down the prices will drop far due to the fact that some newer buyers will think these reds are actually easy to get.

I agree with you, but not for the same reason. I think it will drop because almost every collector on the boards looking for these issues was able to grab them. They are no longer willing to drop as much on one since they already have a copy in their collection. Yea, I'd love another set, but I will not pay anywhere near what I was once willing to.

Not everybody.I didn't get a Bags purple or red but with the attention...I didn't even bother to ask him if he had any.I'll try a different route.Besides...they are not at the top of my wantlist.I still have over 3,000 cards until completion of the beckett list.There are a whole lot of things to track down.I take them as they come or as I can afford.

I am not sure what you are getting at.Book value means little on ebay.I overpay for things all the time that are not considered "hot" but its because somebody wants them as much as I do.But the card itself may not be super popular.

The pricing matters, in context to what I said, because they were higher than they normally seem to be for the collectors who actually normally go after them.I am not trying to whine or complain about it.I am just stating a point.Keeping them has nothing to do with what I am talking about.At all.

I'm with you Druw. The prices will adjust accordingly since alot of the true hardcore player collectors snagged what they needed. So Demand will adjust accordingly.

Pred: The Bags Red seriously isn't on top of your want list? Are you crazy? I'm very surprised. How many have you seen since you started collecting Bags? I've seen 1 other Ripken Red and I knew it wasn't leaving Al's collection and I couldn't afford one at auction, and who in the blue hell knows when another one will surface. Took 10 years to have this opportunity, so I wasn't wavering! Good Luck in your quest.

Just pulled up the prices for these last greens and they are really down. Even a few years ago regular greens were $20-$30+ cards, about what book is. So I'm not sure what the :? means, but at least they seem to be popular to many here... I mean, really, $12 for the Sosa?

The apparent popularity here doesn't seem to have affected pricing much - unless you consider +/- a couple bucks a lot.

Well, February would have been a very bad time seeing as I usually have to pay around $15k in taxes. I wouldn't have flipped it either. I could have sold all of my greens I currently have to recoupe some of the purchase price though.

Well, after paying for the Green, I inquired if he had a Purple and Red Grace too. Maybe I shouldn't have done that. After seeing what the Red was serial numbered too, had to have it. Now I'll have two complete rainbows, plus the prototype rainbow (I'm a greedy bastard, I know.)


Total from the sale $1,444.11 (Excludes cards sold privately).

That was for 100 cards of the set. Add in the last 30 at 10-11 bucks and thats about 1700. ~200 pre fees is not an easy flip in my opinion.

And the most important part is several of the bidders got 2nd chance offers because he had so many of these. So in most cases the 2nd, 3rd, 4th place bidders prob also purchased the card.

They have the regular version, not the CTA. For some reason, Beckett's stock image is that of the CTA, which is a 1/1 (or 2/2 in the case of the green).
