WHY DO THEY PUT A BASEBALL SWATCH INTO A BASKETBALL SWEET SHOT AUTO?

I just picked this up for $3 at the flea market, I thought it was wierd that it was a baseball inside of a basketball sweet shot auto.
Is this common or is there any reason behind it? did he also play baseball?

As for the baseball material in basketball cards, they have been doing it for years..

One of my dream items has been a MJ Auto on a UDA baseball.. So naturally the baseball look on a card makes sense to me..

There is something special about a signed baseball. You can find all kinds of autographs on baseballs: presidents, actors, musicians, etc... There are people who enjoy consistancy, and only collect autographed baseballs. Some people collect sweet spot autos, but only baseball. This really gave them a chance to expand their collections. These are just theories I'm throwing out there.

I got my dad this awesome card of his favorite basketball player for his birthday one year...
