Any logical person knows that you can't please everyone. It's even harder to do so when your resources are limited (no license). So BG is doing the best he can with what he has to work with. People are complaining about SP's. I understand that partially. But would you rather have the card SP (Leaf) or dropped completely (Topps). Also, about the Metal looking like Crusades.....wasn't that a hugely popular set? So he is trying to capitalize on what people like by recreating a similar hot product? I don't buy Leaf products at the moment only because Rickey isn't in them, but if he were I would. I do like the Rose set a lot. I think BG is doing a great job trying to give us collector's what we want. If you can only please part of the crowd, doesn't it make sense to aim for the majority? Since none of us are in his shoes and don't know exactly what is going on, I'm sure there are many things can happen to change the way things turn out. I think the Ichiro replacement was pretty good because he asked what people would like. What other company does that? People don't like stickers on the card. Maybe the player can't sign the cards after they are made (scheduling) or something else. So in order to get the cards made this is what he has to do. I'm sure on-card is his 1st option.

i, for one, would LOVE to see what he could do with all the required licenses. Im not a much of a chrome/prospect guy, so the checklists and productdont appeal to me a lot. they do seem to be pretty sharp looking cards.

You may have noticed there's a lot of bitching about a lot of things, not just Leaf ;)

People have different ideas as to what licensing is important, and a lot of those ideas don't always make sense to begin with.

I don't understand it either.

The only problem I have had is with the Leaf Ali promo he posted here. He did try to correct himself with the Ali auto giveaway because of the stated odds, and I did mention this during our conversation at the National. I mentioned that he could have handled it better, but that's my opinion.

At least he has made himself available for conversation on the release of the products he introduces.

A quick response to the people complaining about language in this thread.

Bitch as a verb is generally accepted in all of it's forms.

Calling someone a bitch isn't.

It's just a word people, and isn't really all that vulgar.

I think it's Bri's ego that gets on peoples nerve. He comes in here telling everyone that he can buy anything and
take on anyone in court, not the time to be flaunting your wallet around.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Leaf's focus isn't my thing (mainly prospects, along with other products that have a higher price point) so I don't buy it. However, I have nothing against the products they release.

If people were content in their own career choice, none of that would matter.

I read stuff like that people post and just ignore it because I don't care what anyone else has.

This is best part of Leaf and also is the reason people just blow out the Leaf threads. Brian listens, participates, addresses, etc, which is why there is always heated discussion on the topic. If he didn't give a crap and didn't participate, then the threads would die much much quicker. But people here feel they have a voice in the matter, which by all accounts they do, so it's expressed here.

I typically avoid the Leaf threads, unless I'm looking for a good laugh and/or a headache, but I've always been struck by the constant overhyping of the products. Good products stand on their own, they do not need to remind how great they are, and how unique they are, how they are exactly what collectors are begging for and no other companies have the stones to offer it to them, etc etc etc. A hard sell is not required for something that a lot of people want.

I don't understand it either. Brian is a great guy and has built a nice company, and nobody can be perfect. His willingness to get in touch with ACTUAL collectors on message boards is fantastic and is under-appreciated.

I will admit his products aren't for me, but I don't think that warrants bashing.

Um, I think you had to already hate him to interpret what he said as flaunting his wallet. He was saying he was 100% confident he would win the case, based on the facts and precedents. Not that he had enough money to win the case.

At least, that's the way I interpreted it.

As for the first part, he can buy anything... I must have missed it. But I do know that when a member buys a $5K card and puts it in their sig, that's pretty much flaunting your wallet and saying "I can buy anything I want." But nobody ever hates on somebody for putting up a hugely valuable card in their sig. Maybe I just need it explained to me. Please.

People here bitch about every manufacturer. Topps, panini, upper deck, leaf......everyday there are complaints. Only
difference is that the leaf fanboys here get upset when something negative is said about leaf.

If its a topps screwup thread, its all about how unnacceptable that screw up is, jobs should be lost; embargos created. If its a leaf screwup thread, its all about "well any logical person knows you can't please everybody"

P.S.
not a leaf hater, quite the opposite. I have metal, rose and valient boxes coming my way, loved ali. Just pointing out that leaf isn't being picked on anymore than the others here. They are defended which no one else is.........which makes for long threads.
