Why has there not been Tools of the Trade type Hockey Card?

I havent really done much research, but I was looking at some baseball cards and was thinking hockey could do the same thing. They could even be pretty high dollar considering most team pants have logos and make decent patches i.e. the lightning. Also they have socks im sure they do nothing with which would add to the card. Obviously a Jersey and some pieces of the glove. I know I would buy something like this. Everyone claims hockey has the best patch cards, but why not take it one step further.

If there has been a card like this or you would like a different type of set place it here. Like I said in another tab I would of liked to see an international set this year with the Olympics and all. Also hockey prospects could be a little better I think. The research is obviously already so why not make a better product and im looking at you ITG. I am also getting tired of seeing the same faces in some products according to legends. Give me more of a variety when it comes to vet jersey cards. Something like Lanny Mcdonald jersey, Marcel Dionne, and something like a Flames Jersey of Brett Hull.

Well there has been a very similar Tools of The Trade type card made in Hockey by In The Game.

They are called "Complete Jerseys" and have game-used swatches of the Emblem, the jersey, the Number and the fight strap.

These ITG Complete Jersey cards are very popular, in the Hockey hobby and they are a must have for the player collector.

Here is a few examples...

You can search Ebay with this link under "Complete Jersey" to see a whole bunch more of them....

This i LOVE ^^^^^^

In The Game actually owns a Brett Hull Flames gamer and has made Brett Hull Flames game used cards in the past. I dont really expect to see to many Hull Flames game used in the future though. Brett Hull only played about 60 games total, over a period of 3 years with Calgary and this was back in the mid 80's, before the Game used jersey collecting market really took off with collectors, so players in this era (especially rookies or players trying to crack an NHL lineup like Hull) didn't change jerseys every game to satisfy the market and i wouldn't be surprised if only a few Brett Hull Calgary gamers even exist and they are probably locked up in private collections or are very expensive.

Heres an ITG Brett Hull card with a Calgary Flames jersey swatch in it. Like i mentioned ITG has made a few Hull game-used cards with Flames swatches but they are pretty hard to find. I would really like to add a Flames Hull swatch to my collection one day.

Yah those cards are nice but there can be more out there imo. Those fight straps are nice, but I wish there were more rookies in some obscure jerseys. Pavel Bure in some panthers gear, Mike Vernon in the Flames, Paul Coffey with the wings, Mike Bossy, Al Macinnis (who was also on the flames), Brian Leetch with the Leafs so many choices

I would hope that Panini has a Tools of the Trade subset in the works, assuming they are planning on doing an Absolute release in 2010-11.

Upper Deck also released a similar subset in this year's SPGU, they're called Game Gear. They're actually quite nice as well and rarer than the Complete Jerseys.

I'm actually very shocked at the lack of GU Stick cards that are out there. Considering how many sticks break throughout the season, you'd think the companies could get their hands on some.

Yeah ITG should expand on the complete jersey cards and call them complete uniforms.

Have the jersey, team emblem, number and fight strap and expand to include Helmet swatches, Hockey pants, Socks and Skates.

And i agree with Sly. Why don't we have more game used stick swatches? Hockey sticks are so nice nowadays and you could get tons of great swatches off juts one stick. Considering how many sticks the players go through and the fact that game used sticks don't nearly break the bank quite like game used jerseys do, i am really surprised Upper Deck does not do this (ITG does have a few stick cards).

I hope Panini does make something like that this year. I am very excited to see what Absolute Memorabilia Hockey is gonna look like. Hopefully they have Tools of the Trade subset.

You won't see many stick cards being offered in products because they are costly to purchase compared to how many swatches they yield. Also, the cost of cutting/processing is more than that of a jersey or other cloth item.
