I have the fortune of being one of the few to be able to make a living in the hobby without owning a card shop. For the past 4+ years I have been the Senior Writer for a major auction house. As part of my responsibilities, I also help with fielding phone calls and other queries and following up with potential consignments. Unfortunately, 99% of the time I have to break the news to folks that their baseball cards won't pay for their child's college tuition, etc. etc. However, today we cashed in on a major lead! A private collector quietly assembled a breathtaking collection and decided to use our company to sell it. What I handled today.
1.) 1952 Topps Baseball complete set--All cards PSA 7-8 with the #311 Mantle RC (PSA 7) and #310 Jackie Robinson (PSA 8)
2.) 1933 Goudey Complete Set graded PSA 5-7 including the Lajoie shortprint (PSA 4)
3.) Over 100+ game-used jerseys.
4.) Game-Used Killebrew All-Star bat and Schmidt bat from a game that he hit three home runs.
5.) 1933 Butter Cream Babe Ruth PSA 1--Only 3 known. SGC Authentic sold for $55K.
6.) Complete run of World Series programs in (EX-MT) or better.
7.) Complete run of 1948-1955 Bowman Baseball complete sets in (EX-MT) or better.
This is going to be very fun.
