I just wanted to see why so many are downing this years Bowman Chrome? Here locally, I have spoken with my friends that run the shops and they can't keep it on the shelves. One shop got 40 boxes in on Wednesday and sold out by Saturday. The other shop had two cases and only had a handful of boxes left.

It seems that there are some decent autos in Harper, Moore, Ackley, Hosmer, Lawrie, and Banuelos. Are these not as desirable due to not being First Year cards?

Just wondering why I've heard grumbling that this is the worst BC set yet. I thought 2009 was hard to beat for that honor.

Because for every good auto you have 4-5 $5 autos. So the odds are against you.

This. The auto set is way to big, and a few of the high end autos seem to be short printed. Still better than in years past because production #'s appear to be down, but the number of base autos under $5 is too high to make the product anything special at this time

if you go buy retail your doing better than some of the cases being broke. Chrome is good for singles, draft is where the money is at.

I kinda figured the lackluster auto thing would be the main concern. I am done with the product after my break last night. Quit while I'm ahead.

It's making me think that Chrome autos are hurting the product more than they are helping. They take the value out of the unsigned chromes to where it's tough to pull something good anymore.

I was going to do a case this weekend but after looking at all the autos getting 99 cents plus shipping Friday night I decided not to. Instead I bought 80 prospect refractors and 5 autos for the price of a box at the show this weekend.

hopefully this "bad release" is another step towards weeding out the greedy people in this HOBBY for "the money"

I understand the short prints and the redemptions, but if this chrome dips to $40 per box like last year, it will be tempting to stock up on. For every one short print redemption, you can still pull several Harper's which is not all bad. I will probably bust a case around Christmas, which at that point it maybe much cheaper. I second the notion of all the good retail breaks I have seen. Crazy number of Harpers and some colored refs coming out of rack packs and blasters. Of course, I could bust that much retail myself and pull zero color. If the price really falters after draft and sterling come out, I will gladly bust a another case in January for my birthday.

Turner too. Plus my 19 of my 20 cases were entirely Veteran/RC parallels. Absolutely ridiculous.

This is completely inexcusable. Just lazy at best and incompetent at worst. Sorry to hear about this. I've been complaining about Topps collation for 25 years and it's obvious this is one area they just don't care about fixing.

And asking for value in a product people spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on is not being greedy.

I got back to some Topps Chrome boxes yesterday and it was way more fun than my 3 boxes of Bowman Chrome.

There simply aren't enough good rookie autographs to cover three Chrome sets (Bowman, BC, and BDP). Topps was able to juice 2010 Bowman with the chrome autos, but now we are 5 sets in after about a year and a half and the lack of depth is starting to show. Topps won't have a phenom to headline next year's sets, so it will be interesting to see what they do.

what i noticed which i like is most of the prospects are between 19 and 21 so there will be some gems in 2-3 years that are commons now.. I like this years design and look forward to a price drop so i can afford to bust more. Rip and Flip would never have been mentioned 25 years ago you bought cards and hoped in 20 years they might be worth something.. now a days everyone expects to buy a case and instantly make money

The redmeption thing on the good autos bothers me the most.

I saw my friend bust two cases.. bought the two Moore autos he pulled off of him and called it a year on this product. Besides I have to save for draft.

+1. those of us who actually collect for the fun of it have never opened a bad case. the ones who "invest" rather than collect never open a good vase unless they can flip every thing in it for triple what they paid for it.

I didnt hit a harper, hosmer or lawrie auto in my casce and i still had a smile on my face when i finished.
