I'd imagine if a woman could prove that she could throw, hit and do what was required, she could play. Unfortunately, like in other venues, women have used their gender to get opportunities that they didn't deserve. A woman doesn't deserve a spot on a team simply because she is a woman. If you hit better than a man trying out, she should get the spot, if she doesn't, she shouldn't get the spot because she's a woman. I've seen women play baseball at a relatively high level, and its much like comparing NBA to the WNBA. I don't want to watch a game full of layups just like I don't want to watch a game full of singles and bunts. Also, I would think that there would have to be stipulations such as not getting pregnant during the season, playing through cramps and PMS, etc. Just seems like there's a lot of special considerations that would have to be made.

If a woman can hit and throw and she would agree to the conditions, I say give her a chance.

These would have to be issued that would be considered before allowing a woman to play on a mens team, just from a financial standpoint and a contractual standpoint. Like I said, if she could perform to the necessary level and would agree that personal, physical issues wouldnt get in the way of playing, I dont see why she couldnt play.

Take that meathead!

I did in the original post. Do you want me to go into gory details? How many games would the woman have to be excused for for her time of the month? Emotionally, physically, playing to full ability while dealing with unavoidable issues. Would that have to be worked into the contract? Potentially getting pregnant during the season and being unable to play? Would have to make a contract based on number of games played rather than a contract per season.

What's stopping a man from playing a woman's professional sport? We always hear about the women with the men, well why doesn't it work the other way? What's stopping a male amateur from climbing the ranks amongst the women? The competition might be weaker, and that could equal more money than if they struggled against male competition. I think with from the male perspective it might be more about money, and from the female perspective it's more about making a statement and money.

Men are primarily physically stronger, so it would be an unfair advantage in sports. A man would be seen as weak for having to drop to a womens league of competition.

I've played baseball for 25 years, from little league to a fairly high level, I've hit against major league pitchers and pro softball players. A 95MPH fastball in baseball and an 80 MPH fastball in softball are equally difficult to hit. Bigger ball but shorter distance requiring a faster reaction. Like I said, if you can play, contribute to an expected amount and can prove your worth as a player, then gender really shouldnt matter

That's great stuff right there. Maybe you should lobby congress to allow women time off of work during their special time. I mean, they surely can't perform to their full ability in the workplace right? Or maybe they should be paid less to compensate for the lack of production. Yeah, that's it!

And you're calling people meathead.

You called me Archie, I called you meathead. I thought you would get it. Guess not...anyhow...

Women's "special time" may interfere with performing physically taxing activities. Big difference between being a teacher, executive, secretary, nurse, etc and being a pro baseball player. Having cramps wont keep you from carrying out a business meeting, teaching a class or meeting with a client--might keep you from stealing bases or running out an infield grounder.

Seems like you're taking this awfully personal. The question was asked and I gave opinion based on legitimate possibilities.

Nice try, but I gave a wide variety of occupations. What, are you angry I said women can be executives? You think a woman cant run a company? tsk tsk tsk! Maybe you think they can only be a stewardess/flight attendant or a waitress? Is that what you're trying to say?

Etc means et cetera, a Latin expression meaning "and other things" or "and so on." I didnt think I needed to list every possible job a woman could have, but according to you, maybe I needed to since you didnt see that "etc" listed and felt the need to jump on my post.

lol Okay.

It's funny, I don't even have to give you a real response to this and 99.999% of people reading will know exactly what is going on.

You do know there are such things as birth control and medicine for cramps, correct? You do realize we don't just lay on the couch bleeding to death for 7 days straight wrapped in a towel, correct? It's such an odd thing, but us crazy women can actually function in the real world when we're on the rag! :o

Okay, sorry to bother your train of thought. Go back to mapping out your ****** Contract.
