As soon as I'm tempted to think I overpaid, I remind myself of the Clark & Thomas collectors who would kill to find a '92 Super, and the fact that in 15 years of collecting Butler, this is the only copy I've ever seen.

Don't forget the Ripken collectors :)

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Yes, yes I did.

Here are a couple of interesting "cards." My understanding is that the 1990 is significantly tougher to find than the 1988 or 1989.

Have any of you guys seen this card? It's purported to be some sort of an Artist's Proof. It's blank-backed and autographed by the artist on the front. I guess it came as an entire set, but I've never heard anything about it.

Thinking about how much it will cost me to own the DK Jumbo Thomas...if another would ever show up. I'll never have it I'm afraid.

I hear ya man... this is the one Ripken (besides 1/1's) that I really feel I may never own.

Clark guys, I'm working on redoing my online store and was wondering where I should price a 1993 Flair Promo? Does anyone know of recent transactions?

Well. It was me. I had to pay out my ass (about $200 more than I really wanted to spend), but I get to mark it off my list. I was in a Will Clark collecting club in the early 90's and I have been looking for that card since then. So, no more worries about ever seeing it. Now I just have to pay for it. I think I might list my Crusade set to help pay for it. Not sure yet.

Holy Crap!! You Will Clark collectors are out of your Vulcan minds! I actually mean that as a compliment; I love to see collectors that go after cards like this. I thought Ozzie collectors were nuts but you guys are the best.

This one was "the one" for me though. I have had it in top 3 wanted since I knew it existed. I've been collecting Will since 1989, but have never seen the card for sale, at any point, for any price. The only Will I wanted more than this one is the 1990 Score Promo. I love the promos/samples/test issues, so this is a milestone for me. Barely won it though. Man, we are flippin' crazy and I knew I had to really go nuts to win it.

I'm stunned at the final price, actually. Drew, Ron, were either of you the underbidder? Congrats to clarkfan - glad it went to a board member at least.

Wow.

Congrats. Seriously, that's going to be in your collection's inner circle forever. I'm more than a bit jealous. I've always had the DK Jumbo and Donruss Aqueous as #1a and #1b on my list, and I was lucky enough to snag the Aqueous last spring. That only took me about 20 years, so maybe I'll get the next Jumbo around the time my firstborn is graduating high school.

I really hope it's in nice shape. Be sure to give us a full report when it comes in...

Congrats...

Drew

PS. I don't even have a firstborn, so that puts the ETA on my jumbo at least 18 years away...

I'm very happy you got this card. With the prices people pay for newer patch cards I don't see anything wrong with going after this card at any price. As far as the 1990 Score Promo is concerned please don't bring it up because this card has haunted my dreams since I learned of its existence. I have only seen one example from this set ever and it was Nolan Ryan. Most player collectors don't even know about this set. Congrats again on the pickup.

Yeah. I still need the Aqueous Test. I, of course, got outbid on that one too. But, this one meant a little more to me. Please no more high dollar Clark cards come up on ebay that I want :) I'm hoping I have most of the others clark22fan has, but I probably will need more knowing that great collection.

I will definitely add a scan when it gets here.
