Hi fellow Clark collectors! I'm somewhat new to the board, but I have read it here and there for a pretty good while. Been collecting Clark since I bought 1987 Topps packs back in the day. I've mainly tried to collect one of each of his cards from 1986-1993 while he was in a Giants uniform. Only recently (last 2-3 years) have I been trying to collect his Star cards. I wanted badly to win the 1988-89 Star Nova Promo card just yesterday on Ebay. I bid what I thought was more than reasonable price for 3 separate graded ones and a lot of 3 graded PSA 7. I got outbid on all of them by 1.00 from i***g (4605). This guy has outbid me on a ton of auctions and just keeps amassing his Clark collection. Save something for the rest of us who don't want to horde every single tough Clark card! It's frustrating, but what can you do?

Anyone here have what they think are rare Clarks from these years they wouldn't mind selling to a fellow Clark fan at a reasonable price?

Welcome to the boards ! Yes, the i***g (Michael) is hard to compete with. I will look to see if I have an extra Nova Promo , but I don't believe I do. I do have some extra Promos, just not sure if I have that one. I am looking for a Bay Bombers Glossy Promo to complete the Star run if you ever come across one you can spare. Welcome and if you'd like to share any of your collection w/ pics etc. I'd love to see

Welcome to the club! I've been collecting his stuff since 1988, so you've got a whole year on me! Most of my collection is displayed at www.thrill22.com, but I haven't updated it in quite some time. I'd love to see some of your favorite items (whether they're rare, unusual, or just your favorite for whatever reason).

ImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437099169.412323.jpgImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437099196.381561.jpg

This one is regular card size and a new R&N variation for me , never had the /1000 version

ImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437099272.541090.jpg

Don't do a lot of new things that aren't very unique but #/15 for $12 I said might as well

You Clark guys seen these - Starline Book Covers? This sealed set had Mattingly, Clark and Grace. I didn't know about them until I saw them listed. The way the auction title was listed with no spaces and commas, it wouldn't appear in a Clark or Mattingly search, so I may have got lucky and had no competition for it. Mattingly is on front and Grace on back, so I assume Clark's cover is hidden in middle. Starline made so much crap, wonder what else is out there (I have posters, mini posters, Long John Silvers cards, promo cards, pictures, greeting card, pocket folder and now book cover)?

Have one , and saw these , but I forgot if I have the single or sealed. Didn't want to buy the version I had n didn't have time to look. I will try n check this weekend. Your right Starline had a lot. I found a different version of a greeting card this year and forgot to bid on a 8x10 "poster" earlier this year I hadn't seen before.

Ryan - you have some sort of "ceramic tile" Starline thingy, don't you? What the heck was that - haven't seen one.

I do I do have that thingy ;) I'll see if on Sunday night I have time to get to my stuff and will pull out the oddball stuff. Other than say it is a ceramic 8x10ish thingy , I can't remember any more details. It'll get me motivated to look at some stuff to go locate it

Ok , I started digging a lil'. Here is my book cover pack. I probably wouldn't mind open single versions and maybe some variations w/ say Clark on the back etc down the road. But glad both sides of this have him pictured. Also uniquely to this , his "base" one that is on the front, is also the middle one you can't see as well. So that's cool I guess to us oddball freaks ;)

It has the same UPC as the one you got Brad. The front Clark one is copyright 1988 and the back Super Stars one is copyright 1989. Pictures on the Super Stars is Canseco, Gwynn, Mattingly, Darryl, Clemens, Will and from viewing inside the 6 others on the front of it are EDavis, Boggs, Orel, Brett, McGwire as Bo.

Here is the ceramic thingy...

Comes in a box like:
ImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437460500.173333.jpgImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437460563.482103.jpg

Then looks like:
ImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437460605.330960.jpg
Basically an image with a clear glasslike overlay. Then wood frame. Back looks like:
ImageUploadedByFreedom Card Board1437460693.300068.jpg

That's basically it. The ceramic part is 6x8ish , with frame 7x9ish. I will see what other Starline stuff I have, maybe some can use for reference

Cool stuff, guys. Along a similar line, I've always been confused by all the ceramic baseball card items. I've seen so many ceramic items with Will's 1986 Topps card. I haven't dove into those as I've never had a good handle on where they came from or what the "checklist" would look like. (plates, cards, tiles, mugs, steins, etc.)

Hey Drew -

I've been working on that category , still not sure what actually exists in totality. I had 2 different beer stein variations and they vanished from where they were. I lean towards my kids or wife knocking them over and breaking them , then hiding it from me. I've never been able to find out the truth though ;) So id like to replace those. I will see what other 86' Topps / RN stuff I have and see. I think I may have posted the pics of te steins on here at one point I need to get for reference.

Not sure for Clark, but for Grace there are R&N China items including: Porcelain Cards with wood stands, Ceramic Refrigerator Magnet, Coffee Mugs, and Dinner Plates. Too bad no beer stein!

Cool lil' mail day here...

I wanted a barrel Clark for a while. When I saw he was on the CL for a Knob and a Barrel, I wanted the pair. It took a while for the 2 to pop. I was offered the Knob at a price we worked on but couldn't match on price by $100. The Knob end they used didn't really have much appeal to me (no markings etc), but if I coulda got the price right I woulda added it. Moving on the barrel hit and I was able to land it. Actually has some ball residue (no pun IndyManning if you read this) on it so that's a cool bonus. I do wish the picture was a little nicer, but overall, happy to add one.

Here is what I could locate. If anybody has anything different that I haven't pictured or mentioned, including packaging variations, let me know.

I couldn't find pics of the 2 Beer Steins on here , I hope I have pics on my computer. There is one on eBay right now but I'd like to be at $20/dlvd to replace.

Coffee Mug, with slight variations. Look at the MLB and Topps Logos on the bottom of the mug. These variations tie into the box variations mentioned below

All mugs have boxes that have this panel on one side:

Then the top 2 mugs other panel looks like:(the 2nd mug actually has an UPC on the bottom of the box that the top one does not though)

While the 3rd mug has a variation on one of the panels and looks like:

As I'm doing this and my wife is next to me saying why the heck do any of these variations matter , I tend to realize the issues I have ;)

The barrel itself is great, but I agree the card isn't the best design. I do love both knobs, of course! They're both fantastic sets with a great eye-appeal, as well as killer knobs that each tell a story. Thanks for posting them!
