I think he will be signed by Topps/Bowman despite Boras' ridiculous demands. They're all men, they understand how much Strasburg will drive product sales...the question is do they think it's worth it? Wondering what everyone else's guess is.

Sometimes it's not just about the money.

If Topps can somehow sell him and Boras on brand recognition, reputation, and being on the wrappers/boxes of BDP, maybe he'll see the light.

Or not.

I think UD is planning on him being the cornerstone of their launching into MLBPA licensed only products.

Jaypers - I think that is the only chance Topps has.

I assume Topps "needs to" since they need to nail home this exclusive contract and that has to start with the top end players.

However, I think Topps is too cheap and will FAIL

Haven't been a big UD fan for awhile, but I think they have to realize they need to make a big splash with their licensing agreement ending. Have to imagine they are going to throw some decent money at a few key players for
"exclusive" type deals.

Does it really matter?

Those that only view cards of players with MLB logos as valid will only care when Strasburg gets his first Topps issued card showing a Nats logo. Those that view any card as valid already know that Strasburg has numerous issues featuring his autograph.

So let me ask...is an air-brushed or hidden logo card better than a USA Baseball card of Stras?

2004 SP Prospects is a pretty popular set (though I think any airbrushing is super ugly).

Not to mention his college uni may be a pretty popular card.

So demand will be USA>Whoever signs him?

Ok.
Any idea of where contracts range moneywise for star players i.e. Albert Pujols, Derek Jeter, Arod etc? I have no idea of what card contracts fetch, so I don't know in what ballpark Boras will be asking for Stras' contract.

I wouldn't count out Panini. They already made a deal with Porcello/Boras. So there is some precedent with the two sides already.

The underlined statement above is incorrect. USA card's have proven thus far to be much greater than the Razor brand of the "exclusive's"...thus showing the statement of "Never has" to be wrong (even if it were just an opinion)! :D

Does anyone really think Boras cares who he signs with? Boras could care less about his clients and is only looking for a paycheck.

Of course Boras cares. He wants Strasburg to go where the most money is. That keeps his client happy, and I believe Boras gets something crazy like 20% (maybe that's just salary). So, even if Boras doesn't get anything for Strasburg in cards, he still gets a piece of Stras' yearly salary because Strasburg will wanna do business with him rather than someone else.

Boras could probably care less. All he will want is his client to sign with the highest bidder.

+1 Dave
USA cards have outsold some of the other brands
