I have dealt with them numerous times in the years preceding 2009. However this last year saw a decrease in shipping times, communication, and card quality. Seems like they have been trying to squeeze every penny out of their cards.

Exactly.

Just curious, but how do you 'know' they are not affiliated in any way?

So you're suggesting that they are affiliated?

How do you deduce that??

TS suggests they are, DMC suggests they are not. I am just asking how he knows. Funny that the one you question is the only one asking for facts and not the one 'suggesting' them..

:?

I came across a way, I didnt mean to. Sorry, for that. I actually would like to know if they do have an affiliation to be honest. Only bought from wolverine24 once and it went smoothly. He relists sold cards over and over till he gets the price he wants.. Plus some of his cards have been in question...

Damn! I actually won a Bagwell from him right after new years. Its only $1 and some change but he supposedly already shipped it on 1/5/10. So hopefully I will get it anyways. Does anybody know when they supposedly went NARU? I may file a claim but I don't feel like going through all the crap over $1 and some change if I don't end up having to. Knowing them though, they may say they shipped on the 5th but it was more likely never even shipped. Who knows. I guess I will wait until Friday and then file a claim if its not here. I must say I am sort of relieved he is gone. Dealing with him lately has been like dealing with the devil. The good never seems to outweigh the bad. I had never had trouble out of him until this last go around. Now...after giving them faith again, I may just get burned again.

I've had 4 successful buys from Wolverine (even a high-end 2007 UD Exquisite Quad Auto Marcus Allen - Bo Jackson - Plunkett - Walter #6/10), but always suspected he was shilling. With the new privacy bidders lists, it's almost impossible to prove anything anymore. I used to be the expert at spotting Shill bidding on Bo cards because I tracked the sales as a hobby (as well as collecting Bo cards). Like you all say, I'm sure he'll be back under a different name, if he's not already.

I wonder if they were tipped off to this and thought it was best to no longer use that name.

A letter like this has a lot more emphasis behind it if the words being used are spelled correctly and professionalism is utilized. It looks like a 15 year old wrote it.

That being said, I'm very surprised Tuff Stuff printed it, considering it's very possibly libelous.

Because I "know" (loosely used term) wolverine. He's from the area and actually used to run/own one of the better shops in Columbus back in the early-mid 90's. He went to high school with my ex-wife, so anytime we saw him at shows, we'd strike up a conversation. He was a good guy back then.

Now, I'm sure he's overall a nice guy, but his business model lends itself to questionable activity. Right, wrong, or whatever, I think he buys LARGE lots of cards from various sources that he ends up taking a bad rap on (ie. fakes, etc.). He deals in high volume of singles, so inevitably, bad product is going to cross his shelves. I more fault him for who he choses to buy the inventroy from than anything else. From his perspective, though, he's buying inventory, he needs to sell it.

Best advice I ever got...

No way this is over shilling. Ebay does not care about that. Ter the price goes, the high the price goes, the more fees they charge! You think they have a problem with that?

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Yes.

Shill bidding is one thing eBay freaks out over.

Agreed and the reason behind their harsh actions over shilling is based on long term buyers. Buyers who feel that shilling is going on will likely not return which in the long run lessens bids/income. It is community security, the one thing they care about.

But the defnse against libel is the truth. I don't think Burge at least wants any one to ask him to prove these aren't fakes. Find one fake, and the letter is true and his case is done. There is too much proof when it comes to tracking his buys and sells via ser. # and alterations. Right? I'm not the lawyer, but i studied journalism for a long time and know how to defend against libel.

Shill bidding on auctions is illegal.

You think eBay doesn't care about that? You're dead wrong.

Received a package from Wolverine today. Four sweet cards for $5 DLVD, can't beat that. A little slow since I paid on Dec. 28th, but they are here. He went three for three on the orders I got from him and I must say the cards are in great shape. He's still an unregistered user on ebay thoguh.

Actually they pick and choose who they want to enforce that with. I've made a couple of posts about a certain seller that has 4 different shill bidding ID's that he uses and ebay has done nothing to him. I've reported all his auctions that he has used the shill bidding ID's with along with other members and nothing was done. And it's so obvious but ebay let's him keep going.

Yes, the defense to libel is the truth. However, to simplify things tremendously...lawsuits are very, very, costly.

I always suspected him of shill bidding ever since I won a card from him a long time ago that should have gone for a 1/3rd of what it did. But at that time I was naive and didn't really know any better. Since then I have always been extremely selective about what I purchased from him. I can't prove anything but I also never felt quite right about it either. So I was just careful.

Now I can say that he had some of the Pinnacle Inside diamond edition cards up for sale lately and I won both of them from him for Bags. They were two different cards and he sent me a package containing the same card. So after getting a refund, I won the other card again and was hoping to get the right card this time. And that is about when this thread popped. Now, granted it was only $1...I would still like the card. Hopefully I will get it. If not, I will be filing a dispute. But they never had problems liek thsi for me in the past. Only lately. It used to be that whatever I did win from them, I got. Not these days though.
