For those that are complaining about the Rip Girls cards in a baseball product.. What about having dead presidents in a baseball product.. or a celebrity..

Hell, why do we have golfers, basketball players, Hockey players, swimmers, Olympians, etc.. in a baseball product..

Would you bitch if you got a Jordan auto in your baseball pack?

Very poor comparision. At least they are sports figures. It would be more like how would you like to get an auto of the guy who runs the printing press for Topps? Or how would you like to get an auto of some random Joe from the block?

So George Washington, Abe Lincoln and Hillary Clinton played sports?.. What teams did they play on .. (the Senators ::facepalm:: )

Do i like them? No. But again its not the same. How many people know who Abe Lincoln is? Then tell me how many people know who rip girl X is? Hell even what a rip girl is for that matter. The rip girls are just not marketable and have no relevance to anything.

I have 4 scout autos (all of the same guy). He scouted my two favorite players, and I have spent less than $2 dlvd on average, so why not. I would much rather get an baseball auto, even if it's a scout, over a base card.

From what i remember (could be wrong) the "rip girl" cards were at least an extra hit in the finest box - so that's why i don't think those were that bad.
Either are horrible though if they are one of your box hits.

At least the scout autos are baseball related. The rip girl autos are just plain stupid and pointless.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post. I think they should have done GM autos instead but the rip girls autos are completely random.

+1! Imagine paying $80+ for a pack and getting that...

At least the other two don't count as your "hit".

Worse Topps idea - scout autos because they are too esoteric for the average baseball card collector to associate with the game.

Maybe this year, they could create dual autographs with the scout and the actual player. That would make more sense, though people may still not get what Topps is trying to do.

With the Rip Girls and the Rip Master, it is more of a tongue-in-cheek promotion to be able to showcase the people hosting the Topps' breaks on YouTube.

But the scout autos were inserted into Bowman, the "Home of the rookie card.", the product that includes a Bowman Scouting Report on top of every box, so the scout autos make sense. Are they a good idea, not really, but they make sense and actually have a connection to baseball. The Rip Girls/Rip Master autos were just stupid marketing tools. If I wanted to get Benchwarmer-like cards, I'd buy Benchwarmers...and creep myself out.
