So I have another thread about buyers remorse and we have brought up a bit on tipsy/drunk purchase on the Bay... Anyone want to try their hand at this? Ill go first. At the end of the preseason this year I purchased a Dustin Vaughan National Treasure Auto /25 for $125 bucks... Why? I have no idea. Just was looking through eBay and just hit BIN instead of making an offer. In my haste I guess I was hoping that somehow he was going to get the Cowboys back up job and when Romo would get hurt (which he did) and play well (a pipe dream) I would have made a nice profit. Suffice it to say this was the night before the last preseason game and after his third pathetic performance the Cowboys cut him the next day. Now he is a Bills Practice Squad QB. I am sure had I waited one day I could have got the card for 20 bucks. ::facepalm:: This was just my most recent tipsy blunder as I have made many.

Alcohol has never really been my issue. Being "card drunk" is much worse.

You find a card you want, then set a snipe for say $50.00. "This is the most I will pay."

Then the end date approaches. You watch it the last few minutes. You talk yourself into thinking it's going to go much higher than $50.00 and you have to have it. So at the last second, you put a HUGE bid.

Someone else does the same thing. You win a $35 card for $150.00. Then, even though you know you won it, and you know you have to buy it, you take a few days to pay... thinking maybe it will go away.

It doesn't. You pay. And you swear "never again." And you know you don't mean it.

By you, I mean "I".

OH I am sure sometime in the next month there will be another whoops moment for me. LOL. Matter of fact the R. Johnson prototype I just won was one of those moments. Although I am usually so disgusted with myself that I pay right away so I don't have to be reminded of my own stupidity. HAHA

I met Reggie Bush and got two IP autos. I was drinking that night and decided that makes it worthy of starting a new collections. Nearly 200 bucks later I had one, worst part was I made a bunch of either base or low end inserts so while I had a lot, I had nothing to show for it. All were sold off eventually, of course not anywhere near what I paid.

Since I am a diabetic, I would equate having low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) to being drunk. I have overpaid on some Albert Pujols cards while having a low blood sugar. Here are some examples of my hypoglycemic spells:

I have had a diabetic seizure requiring a trip to the ER
I have stuck my feet out the passenger side window while someone else drove me home
I was swimming in a pool under water for an extremely long time
I tried to eat a plastic plant while my wife was fixing me something to eat
I tried to eat my blood testing strips
My eyes rolled back into my head one episode
I drove a car not remembering how I got home
Twice, I went jogging and what would normally take me 20 minutes to get home, it took me over an hour

The next time you see someone acting drunk, they might just be a diabetic having a hypoglycemic spell.

I am sure your Wallet thanks you Magic. I am amazed with that crazy @@@ Griffey collection you have there wasn't one special lapse in judgement, maybe pre 2000 ;-)

My brother in law is diabetic, I have seen it. Scary stuff. He thought I was his deceased grandfather. I kept trying to get the sugar packet in his mouth but his teeth were clenched to tight and had to call the paramedics. Lucky for him he isn't in to cardboard. .
