With all the talk of the success of 2011 Bowman so far, and while mildly cruising eBay, looking at crap, I asked myself what could the WORST release in the last, say 5 years (since the end of the DLP era).

I consider price-vs.-value-vs.-look-vs.-"ugh" factor.

I'm torn between O-Pee-Chee and Chicle

It's easy to pick UD X or Documentary, but I think they have their place.

I really hate Chicle...

I think the whole fad of Chicle, Gypsy Queen, Goodwin, and that type of crap sucks. I know some love it, but c'mon Topps. Stick to Ginter and/or T206

Chicle is a good pick. But to me, 2009 Bowman Scout Autographs subset is the dumbiest idea we've ever seen.

While I love the idea, Topps really screwed up both years of Milestones and 2008 was just AWFUL...

Oh how I wish I could've had control of that product.

UD Black errr UD Crap.

This one for High-end and '08 M&M for lower-end, although Co-Signers at $10 per pack wasn't anything special either.

Chicle was on card, I don't think you can give it the worse release on that fact alone.

at the right price, UD Black was a great rip

blows away any high-end release by topps since 2007

But I think when you go by Worst release you have to consider the SRP. I would love if it some of the terrible "mid-level" stuff that came out at $10-20 per pack, Co-Signers, SPx, etc. had come out at the prices they get now, but they were 75% more and I think that plays into it.

Plus, awful products like the aforementioned Black, the '07 Rookie Exquisite and most of the Topps Sterlings probably still are bad values even at really reduced prices.

If we're going by initial msrp - what did 07' SP Rookie Edition cost when it was released?
If that was anything over like $60 that may be worth a nomination.

I opened a box of it, but that was because it was free as part of some D&A promo a couple years ago.

There's a few star guys you can get, but it has all the markings of a poor release.

Sticker auto's
Average break gives you nothing but a couple garbage auto's
Limited and confusing checklist - with multiple variations of each player
Nothing but "Rookie" cards (the .99 if lucky variety)
"Retro" design - from barely over a decade ago

2011 Bowman if Harper is a redemption, with the biggest auto outside of Harper being in retail, and the chrome auto checklist other than Belt is mediocre.

That was another awful product. I'm getting a headache from all these YUCK products. I'm pretty sure it was about $5 a pack, and people were excited about it at first and then...UGH. Lincy is in there though.

And that reminds me of Upper Deck FX. Kinda of the same awful ideas.

Too many BAD products to list in one thread...

Would you guys agree that, while it's tough to nail down, 2006 may have been the worst YEAR?

I hate 2008 UD Documentary. Hate it because I bought a ton of cheap blasters, and didn't appreciate how tough it can be to figure out who the hell is actually on the cards. It could have been great if they ID'd the player and used pictures that were relevant to the game mentioned. Instead, crap.

I'm surprised no one mentioned 2009 UD Icons. Very few redeeming features in that set.

2009 Topps Ticket to Stardom, although cheap, featured some of the worst designed cards in recent memory. Ugly base cards and horribly crowded relics. WOOF!
