In before he is mentioned in the same sentences as Matt LaPorta, Alex Gordon, and Cameron Maybin.

looks like the buyer is legit, he dropped $1200 on a pair of gold montero's, and $265 in pooper scooper bags.

Here's an idea: Just keep the $1325 and ask him to complete the eBay transaction and pay you the $1200 as well. That way if he screws you out of the $1325 paypal gift, you still have the $1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My biggest problem with this thread is that gilmo said Matt Damon was the bomb in Phantoms.

It was actually Matt's ****** equal, Ben Affleck, who was the bomb in Phantoms.

Phantoms like a mothaf*%ka!!

hence the joke :D

it was assbackwards, much like the thread

I think the perfect ending to this is for JD to come back and say he got the 1200 PP gift and then asked the guy what was the funding source. The guy said his Paypal balance and then JD told him now pay me another 1000 if you ever want to see the card. Then he would come back to start a thread about our opinion on how safe the 1000 dollars was...

A sale shouldn't be this stressful and have so many decisions (hard decisions)??

It's not.

He's trying to drive up prices by continually posting and telling everyone how much he sold them for and what a huge profit he makes, so, eventually, he can unload them all at once.

Normally I would agree but after reading this and other threads by the OP, I'm gonna say that isnt why he does this, I really think he's this helpless...

While I don't always agree with HPC, i do have to say, he made this point a month ago, and it still rings true now. I am not going to come on here and pretend like I know 1/100th as much as y'all (copywrite-cutinitclose) do about prospecting, but I can speak to adding hype to the machine, and you sir are doing it on a 3-4 times a week basis. When I log in some days, I wonder to myself, "I wonder if Jesus Montero did....X" and then I just scan the first page, because if he did, you are there to note it.

ALLLLLLL of that said, the original premise of this post is just nuts to me. You are staring down a $900 flip profit in less than a year's time based on HYPE, and you are questioning it? The mere fact that you post about it on a message board, after "1500+" sales on eBay just baffles me.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL that said (part 2) I want to thank you for starting the thread of the week so far, it was highly entertaining

NEVER STOP POSTING ABOUT IT.

So can people finally now agree with me about all of his damn Montero posts?

BTW,

(I saw the name Cardboardbeautys in the thread)

David from Houston, TX

PM me his lastname JD, I might know him (I live in Houston & know several other David's, besides myself, that collect...my name is David by the way & I'm not the buyer) :D

What's the big deal about posting on a board to get feedback from other prospectors that are doing the same thing. Buy a prospect low and sell high. I took a HUGE risk buying thousands of dollars worth of Montero redmeptions. Now he is hyped, although I think his cards will still go up. I bought these cards/redemptions with the hope of making killing. The Orange is one of my better cards, I still rather have the Golds and Contenders 9.5's. It isn't a PC item but it was big decision for me regardless of the $$ involved. This can easily be a $2k card in a few months.

All of you want to get on my case for trying to haggle the buyer into a few more dollars. I listed it last night without the expectation of getting anything close to the $1499 BIN/BO. I just wanted it there if he has a crazy week in the minors causing someone to hit the BIN.

We all try to hold out for the last dollar on any sale. How many sellers counter with offers $1 higher than the last.

As far as the PayPal issue? We ALL try to screw paypal and ebay out of fees. I don't want to hear thar crap from anyone on here. It was a huge amount to accept as a PayPal gift and I was just checking with sellers on here that might have had more experience with PayPal "gifts" since it is only a few months old.

To the poster that questioned if I knew what I was doing on eBay. I do have 1500 positive feedbacks because of transactions through eBay. I am sorry if I am not as experienced with the terms of service involving PayPal gifts. All of my auctions go through eBay and PayPal and I don't have to worry about that.

Not true. It is impossible to determine what the highest value for a card will be. A lot of smart prospectors unload in stages.

I think it’s ok to post about a potential sale. What annoys me is the bazillion jillion threads about omg, this prospect (weiters, heyward, laporta, hayzeus Montero, omg FREDDDIE) got up today + gasp, he breathed. It’s partly why I’ve stopped visiting FCB as much as it seems like it’s a lot of hype/pumping + dumping rather than substantive hobby talk. And no, that’s not directed @ any single poster, but frankly, I don’t see the point to having say ¼-1/2 of the threads on the first page on any given day to basically be the same ‘omg, look @ my guy- please buy as he’s the next G to the O to the D.

As to this particular sale, I have a problem w/strong arming the guy for more $ b/c it violates ebay rules. I have a problem w/sellers who try to screw paypal + ebay out of fees b/c it hurts ALL sellers in the form of fee hikes. Plus, I/other sellers follow the rules, so why shouldn’t ALL sellers follow them? Not to mention, you’re putting both your ebay + paypal accts @ risk when taking gift payments (no seller protection, fake mutual cancellation, etc.).

Dude everyone is tired of seeing the countless Montero posts you make.

It seems daily that there is something about Montero from you.

As I said before, you posted close to 30 threads in a month span about Montero....that equals out to a thread a day from you about Montero.

Usually, they go something like: "Did I overpay?"/"How much do you think this will go for?"/"Should I sell this?"/"Did I get a good deal?"

We all get that he is a top prospect and he doesnt need hype from you to keep his sales up.

We all have questions, but you have been given the answer time and time again. Sorry, you really need to question a near $900 profit?

Maybe there should be a forum dedicated to eBay and Paypal problems, and maybe it would be more beneficial. I dont know.

However, if you are so eBay and PayPal savy and have all this experience with 1500+ feedback, why are you asking a message board about "Is this a good deal?"...all you are looking for is affirmation about doing something that anyone with 2 ounces of common sense would do.

I may be completely off base in saying you are planning to unload them all at once, but, from previous examples, I dont think so. People were notorious for hyping up prospects such as Delmon, McPherson, Gordon, etc, for months then unloading them after they created the hype train. I can honestly say that BMB was responsible for Delmon's chrome's hitting $125 each. And people will say "yeah but Delmon was hitting the ball good and this and that and...", yes, while that was true, anyone who can read stats noticed he had flaws, and also knew about his ****** attitude and mental problems. So, the people who didnt read the stats right, jumped on the train and didnt get off until it was too late.

As much as some people dont think so, message boards like this and BMB have a direct influence on people's buying habits. If someone respected like JP says he's buying X, I guarantee more people will start to buy X and you can see a rise in his prices. It doesnt even have to be JP, it can be anybody. Create enough threads and start talking, and Montero's prices will rise up higher (even though they are high already).

Once again, I may be wrong about it, but, I am going with what previous examples have shown me.

I tend to agree that OP spams the board a lot with his cards but then again, who doesn't?, he does have the RIGHT to unless a MOD puts a stop to it. If it bothers you that much is it 10x harder for you to block him or NOT click his post?

well then with that theory we should see about 15 more quality posts followed by a couple gold and Xfractor listings with 1500BIN's! read the description carefully.. the small print will say "I accept paypal gift only on large $$ transactions"
