Enough with the senseless arguments; nobody is going to change their mind. I think we can all agree these guys are all top-tier WR's.

I think Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon and Dante Culpepper did a dandy job. Most of the time they were tossing for around 4000 yards or more.

Obviously, no one is Peyton Manning, but the Vikings offense was incredibly potent.
Just FYI, those three eclipsed 4000 yards 3 of the 10 seasons they played for the Vikings.

I was counting the fill-ins as well if they were close.

I'm just looking at this: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/min/

Brown as one of the top 3 receivers of all time? Don't think so. He was a great player, but I wouldn't even put him in the top 10.

 Looks like someone never saw him play, or take into consideration that the guy had no real QB until Rich Gannon.

My Top 10:

1. Rice
2. Harrison
3. Alworth
4. Moss
5. Owens
6. Largent
7. Carter
8. Hutson
9. Berry
10. Brown

I think Brown sneaks into the top-10, ahead of Freddie Biletnikoff, Paul Warfield, Charlie Taylor, Don Maynard and Issaac Bruce, but it's not that outrageous to call him a top-15, rather than top-10, WR. If you're dealing with retired players only, he's definitely top-10.

IMO Grimm was a wasted selection. I don't doubt his ability but his longevity. He played 11 seasons but missed large portions of the last 5 years playing in 30/76 regular season games. He essentially had an 8 year career instead of playing 11 seasons.

I think we are going to see more and more that WR are going to be left out. The rise of the QBs having a receiving "corp" to spread thigns around to is going to hurt WR's ability to stand out like Rice did. People are going to constantly compare everyone from now on to Rice, unfairly I might add, and quality WRs will get left out.

Mark my words, we'll be having this same arguement/problem with Holt, Bruce, Harrison and maybe even Moss.

Moss was so dominant at the start of his career that he's a shoe in, even if he stops today. HOF seem to really love the highlight tapes and superbowls, rather than actual accomplishments.

John Madden being completely awestruck by Randy Moss is one of my favourite football moments.

Don't forget that Rice played when DB's were allowed to touch the WR. If Rice played today his numbers would be even more ridiculous than they already are.

That's a bit of a fib.

What helped Rice excel is now common-place in the NFL. I personally think it's the biggest honor that could ever be bestowed on a player.

The Shallow Crossing Routes that made Rice the man he is, along with just spectacular route running and an uncanny ability to get into position by just outworking the other guy, are now run by offenses on every second play.

Montana and Rice -- and Ken Anderson too! -- just were so far ahead of their time with regards to offense, they were bound to have jaw-dropping numbers.

Rice would still be a great player, but playing against linebackers that played safety in college and safeties that run 4.4's would be a whole new ball-game.

I think Rice's career would also be cut down by 2 or 3 years if he faced that much more tampa-2.

I can think of maybe a handful of players that changed the game like Rice, Waslh and Montana...

Lawrence Taylor? Sammy Baugh?

I agree and its not just the HOF but most fans. I understand the rings b/c that's the point of the game but the highlights are overrated.

I disagree on Rice. He would be even more dominant w/ the rule changes. He played well into the 2000's and faced the Tampa 2 and LB's w/ 4.4 speed. Rice's lack of speed has also been exaggerated. One of the co-hosts on the NFL Network scouted Rice for the 49'ers and reported that he ran in the 4.4's on grass. The time was kept "in house" for draft reasons.
