Sox starters over the last 3 days- 20IP, 3 R, lost all three games. How often do your starters have a 1.35 ERA and you don't win a single game?
One word for this series- embarrassing.

Exciting? The race is over. The Yankees and bench their starters and still win the division. Sox have an outside shot at the wildcard, at best.

As a Rays fan, this series went 100% how I wanted it too. Too bad we couldn't win more than one game this weekend.

Yep; as good as the Sox' starters were, they were out-pitched. Gotta give NY's guys credit.

I never count them out. There are still what? 50 games left give or take a few? Thats a TON of baseball left to play. One week long slide and the Yanks could be in 2nd again. I am very weary of them now.

Ooofa! What a series.

Lester pitched great. Pettitte pitched much better that I thought he would. I agree with the posts before questioning Coke coming into the game (WTF?). Should have been Hughes.

After watching this game on ESPN, I can officially say these three guys suck at calling a game (Phillips, Miller and Morgan). They talk about everything but the game and then stroke Morgan ego.

This AL East race is far from over.

I'm going to start by saying the Red Sox got completely dismantled this series. They looked like a minor league team going against the MLB all stars.

Now, to say the Yankees pitchers out pitched the Sox starters doesn't seem fair to me. The ERA says it, but it wasn't like the Sox offense came in firing on all cylinders and got shut down. When the starters can walk 5-7 guys a night and still have not allow a run, that's more indicative of a poor offense than a great pitcher. I was really impressed by what Lester and Beckett did. Not so much with Burnett and Joba.
