No way does he get in. There are more deserving catchers that fell off the ballot years ago (Ted Simmons).

taking rings out of the equation he fails in comparison to don mattingly. donnie baseball dominated major league pitching for the better part of a decade jorge has only put up slightly above average stats. if donnie isnt in then jorge shouldnt get close.

Mattingly shouldn't either for that matter.

I'll probrobly get lynched for this but he is going to turn into a complier. And it will hurt his chances more than help them.If he plays out the rest of his contract it will be to just collect stats. He is not a Hall Of Famer IMO.He was a very above average player though.

He has 3 rings, and is a Yankee (like it or not, you have to admit that helps your chances to be a HOFer).

Being a Yankee has no effect on being enshrined, nor does having 3 rings. A good catcher, but no way a HOFer.
:?: :? :?:

So, if he had played his entire career in KC or Oakland, we'd be having this conversation?

When it's all said and done for Posada, he will indeed have very good numbers for a catcher and a few WS rings as a Yankee. I believe he will have earned the right to be entertained with a HOF discussion, but thats all. He will be a paying customer like everyone else beyond that.

EDIT: Just looked at the poll numbers and I can not believe there are 20 people in the world, let alone these boards who think he is a HOF player.

i voted "Yes". I did this because The HOF is a business, and for the remainder of time going foward the HOF will HAVE to put someone in every year. This fact leads to those that normally wouldnt make it, getting in. its all a matter of time

No different than the guys who think CC should win Cy Young...it's called "Yankee Blinders!"

Ask Phil Rizzuto if that is true.

Very good point. No one mentions Jason Kendall a career .290 hitter with over 2,000 hits b/c he has played for Pittsburgh, Oakland and Milwaukee his whole career.

No I don't think Kendall deserves to be in the HOF but he deserves just as much discussion as Posada does.
