I've seen a few posted here and there in seperate threads. I was thinking it would be cool if people posted what they've done for these in one area. I'm sure there'll be a few gag posts (which I don't mind a bit ;) ), but I'd really love to see what everyone else is doing for serious sketches.

Here's the Yankee "Passing the Legacy" Project I just finished:

PassingtheLegacy.jpg

closer individual scans can be seen in my photobucket. All in all I estimate I spent ~10-12 hours on the 8 cards even though they're sketches.....I'm slow  I still don't know what to do with them though since half way into the project I read the back better where it says they need to be of pictures from 2010 Topps and Bowman products ::facepalm::

why the hell aren't you doing sketches for topps....amazing work.

edit: i dont know how attached you are to them but im willing to bet there is a yankee fan that would pay a pretty penny for those.

Those turned out great. You could probably sell them as a lot or individually. Sending a scan to Topps and seeing if they are interested in them wouldn't hurt.

 I did the same thing. I got all excited about my subject matter, then I read the rules on back ::facepalm::

Great work by the way. It makes me want to pick up a lot of them on eBay and do more.

I was hoping you'd post Hive. I know you did one and I was hoping you'd do more to share

Thanks for the kind words. If Topps doesn't want them/won't use them, I've thought about running a contest and spreading them around to board members here. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm still hoping to flush out some other sketch artists. I'm sure there's some more great work out there.

Nice stuff!!!! I bought a hand full of these blanks and I am going to give it a shot in the coming weeks (work is crazy busy right now)

I would sell on Ebay if you are up to it or to others on here... Topps will give ya Jack Squat for your efforts.

Such great work.

How does the You Sketch It thing work? You're supposed to sketch a player and then send it back to Topps and then what?

If they like it (considering you followed the rules) than you may be picked to be a sketch artist for them

Re: 'You Sketch It' thread (Yankee Passing the Legacy project)

One of the stupidest promotions by TOPPS ever. A great idea if the artist would actually get paid or if they were not used they would get them back. It is a CHEAP way for Topps to cut the cost of hiring these artists and still including them in packs for future products. Why would anyone send these in? Worth a lot more to us individually and Topps does nothing or gives nothing to the artist. READ THE BACK PRIOR TO SENDING.

I tweeted Topps the link - you should definitely send them in:

thanks for doing that. If they had zero interest in them and they'd just end up in a garbage can, then I'd prefer to hold onto them. But if they even have a chance then I'll probably send them in since that was the original intention.

As for what securedsports had to say, I see your point. However, I'm not really doing it for the $$. It's just something for fun for me and anything I made from any sketches just gets put back into the hobby anyway. I wouldn't mind getting something, but having one of my sketches be possibly inserted into packs would be pretty cool for me. I can see where some might be annoyed though.

I wasn't going to do any more sketches beyond these, but I've changed my mind. I have a few more ideas for a some sketch cards. If anyone opened a lot of whatever these came in and has a bunch in bulk they'd like to sell, let me know. Thanks.

Re: 'You Sketch It' thread (2 more, '55 & '56 Topps)

I bought a bunch more of these and have started a few more sketches. These are '55 and '56 Topps sketch designs. I have to give credit to Hive for the inspiration on the Galarraga. That game/play deserves its own card.

That is a sweet Zimmerman, let me know if you'd consider parting with it in any way!

You do great work!

edit:
BTW, what's going on with the Craters this season? We're getting crushed in the Pro league.
