i love the argument about international soccer fans being so much more devoted to soccer than americans are devoted to, well, anything. im not one to put america on a pedestal just because i live here and its annoying when people do that but we really do live in the most sports obsessed country in the world. we spread our allegiances around more and have a sense of respect for other people and their property and all the sudden we're lesser fans? unreal.

Why would you be on the Red Sox website? Looking for material to use?

I actually went to a place called "GOOGLE NEWS" and typed in "INTERLEAGUE"

I was intregued by an article title "PLAYERS WANT TO USE DH IN NL PARKS" so I clicked it. It was an MLB.com link that opened to the Red Sox website.

Youk said what alot pf people have said about the DH in National league parks, nothing new.

~ You are right, everyday I hear someone talking about how the NL should keep the "No DH Rule", unless an AL team is in town. ~

I guess I may be naive but I didn't know Youk had a history of whining the only thing he ever did was get thrown down by Porcello.

Hahahaha. you have got to be kidding me. Do you remember when Youkilis and Manny went at each other in the dugout?

"Multiple Red Sox players confirmed Friday that Thursday night's dugout altercation between Manny Ramírez and Kevin Youkilis resulted from Ramírez objecting to what he believed was excessive - and chronic - complaining about the strike zone by Youkilis in the dugout, as well as the first baseman's penchant for throwing equipment after at-bats. Both Ramírez and Youkilis downplayed the incident."

His teamates call him out, but you don't notice anything.

i hate to continue to feed the troll, but quoting manny ramirez on this issue, the same manny ramirez who almost got run out of town by his teammates, is a slick move.

besides arguing balls and strikes slightly more than average, youkilis does not have a history of whining.

this thread continues to be an empty argument created for the sole purpose of trolling.

Have it in both leagues or have it in neither. And balance the schedule. It's idiotic to force certain teams to play four contenders when their division rivals play four patsies. Divisions are won and lost based on an attendance gimmick.

i can see how youkilis said the things he said... he's never played for a national league team in his carreer. so to him it doesn't make sense.

but it's hard to take the guy serious with a batting stance like that.

And exactly how many hits do you have at the major league level?
Thats what I thought

Purists run Baseball and will for another 20 to 25 years so you have nothing
to worry about.. You will have your pitcher hitting in the NL for a good portion
of your life. What rules have been changed in Baseball?? Baseball needs to change
or it will die a slow painful death. We don't care about the "numbers" or the "divisions" "pitcher hitting"as much as the "purists" think ..

The designated hitter slows down the game, which is why I do not like the rule. However, we are stuck with it. Unifying the rules for interleague play is unnecessary. Each league enjoys an advantage in its home park. As for the Red Sox, they are just whining and making excuses for losing in Pittsburgh. Changing the rules to benefit teams from one league is a stupid idea.

How does the DH slow down the game?

Are you saying that by them being able to hit and making the opposing pitcher work instead of being an automatic out like a pitcher batting (who often bunts on the first pitch and sacrifices an out with runners on) slows down the game? If so, perhaps you should find something else to watch.

Many Americans already have.

I will guarantee you that AL games generally last longer than NL games. Anyone that has watched Red Sox or Yankees games is well aware of this fact. Having the DH creates more offense, which is going to lead to longer games. Baseball is "timed" by outs being recorded, so the longer it takes to record outs, the longer the game is going to be.

There are plenty of reasons why I prefer the NL style:

1. Creates a faster game.
2. Requires each player to be able to field a position.
3. Helps level the playing field between small and large market teams (one less position for the big boys to spend big bucks on).
4. Creates additional strategy regarding pinch hitters and pitching changes.
5. Good hitting pitchers give themselves an additional advantage.

That goes beyond just offense. The announcers even commented on it during the recent Yankees-Reds series. There are plenty of Yankees games that I have seen where the same comments have been made. It seems like every player in the Yankees line up has a ritual and/or habit that has to be done between every pitch. They have to step out after every pitch, they have to call time almost every pitch, and then they have to go through their routine before another pitch can be thrown. I wouldn't be surprised if the Red Sox aren't the same way.

That's not "hating" or bashing or anything. Many, many people in the baseball world comment on the exact same thing. Anyone who has watched a Yankees game has noticed it.

how many times do you think Nomar would have been hit by Ryan for that?
