As for right now with the Cardinals I have to go Musial,McGwire,Pujols, Jack Buck probably. I know Buck was an announcer but he was a big deal to alot of Cardinals fans. There are others you could put on the list Rogers Hornsby if you take out McGwire. I would say Mac needs to be on there just because him and Sosa saved baseball in 98.

Please don't take offense to this because I realize you are a young person but you need to read up on Hornsby, Ozzie, Brock, Gibson, etc... I am a McGwire fan but he doesn't belong on the bathroom wall at the Cardinals Mount Rushmore. Please don't believe the hype either, baseball would have survived without Sosa or McGwire, they just brought people back sooner.

Jack Buck on the other hand I think is a great idea but you'd have to bump Pujols to get him on there.
Trust me I read up on all of them multiple times. I think you have to have Pujols as he is Cardinals baseball at this moment. I think Buck needs to be on there I was hesitant about McGwire with all of the Steriod stuff. I think maybe Ozzie or Brock go there but which one do you pick? Hornsby I said should be on there. So who is the ultimate Mt.Rushmore for STL Baseball?

The ultimate STL Mount Rushmore is:
Musial
Hornsby
Gibson
Pujols

The only one you can legitimately debate is Pujols. Musial is the franchise's greatest player; Hornsby is the greatest RH hitter of all time and a top 10-15 player of all time. Gibson is their greatest pitcher of all time and Pujols will be greatest when it is said and done. Jack Buck spent basically 50 years with the Cards, Red Shoendienst has put in something like 65 years, Ozzie and Brock each put in 15+, but the four above get my nod. I wouldn't argue too bad about swapping out Pujols but not for McGwire. The top three above are absolutes, period.

Honestly I think that is a perfect rushmore. It is everything except speed, but he said you can put 5 if you want. Jack Buck was the voice of the Cardinals and is still recognized as the best Cardianls announcer. I don't think Shannon deserves to go in the hall he says some stupid things (Harry Carry built his carrer on that) and he goes off topic way too often. I was listening to him during Spring Training one time and he started telling a story, 25-35 minutes later he comes on and says heres what you missed while I was talking and it was like 3 innings of baseball, sure its spring training but I really could careless what someone nobody has heard of did in 1962 (or whatever year it was he was talking about) I like the Mount Rushmore you have posted.

I stopped reading this thread after I saw the names Rivera & Jeter mentioned anywhere near Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, and Berra

As a Cardinal hater (Astros fan, comes with the territor), I completely agree with your 4 choices.

I find it odd ANY Cardinals fan would leave off Gibson, who was one of the most dominant pitchers of all time (and my favorite "never seen him pitch" pitcher of all time). I mean, they CHANGED RULES because of him.

Joe Jackson, Frank Thomas, Ed Walsh, Mark Buehrle

Buehrle is my favorite baseball player today bar-none so maybe I'm a bit biased..real tough to leave out Aparicio or Minoso.

Thats a good list but I would add Charles Comiskey or even Nellie Fox.
Aparicio was good but Minoso was just a fan favorite.

I think Pudge has to be in the mix also. More years as a White than a Red.

I was thinking Fisk as well but he did go into the Hall of Fame as a Red Sox so thats why I left him out.
He is one of my favorite players growing up.

Tigers:

Ty Cobb
Hank Greenberg
Charlie Gehringer
Al Kaline

and in 10 years Verlander gets added, either in addition to the above or by sandblasting one off

It's amazing that the Tigers have for the most part stayed a half way respectable team with little to no star power other than Kaline going back 80 years. Since Kaline retired they haven't had anyone who's even had serious HOF consideration other than Morris, and I'll admit even he is a stretch.

A few more to consider.

Harry Heilmann

I kind of feel like those two are easy. But then it gets a lot tougher.

Do I just go with the future? Strasburg and Harper?

Or go with players that made an impact during their brief time here: Alfonso Soriano, Chad Cordero or Dmitri Young?

Dawson, Tim Raines, Gary Carter, Vlad Guerrero?

**EDIT*** Someone already posted the exact same thing. Great minds!

Shouldn't Willis get some consideration? Cy Young winner and World Series champion.

DTrain never won a Cy Young and if Mike Stanton, Hanley and Josh Johnson are Marlins in 5 years, I'll be heavily shocked.

The last one is hard, do you go with Adam Dunn, John Lannan, Stephen Strasburg, or Mike Morse?

Brewers:

Yount, Molitor, Cooper and probably Braun at this point. If I'm not going to use current players, then Gorman Thomas probably slides in.

Ever since the stadium was approved, the Fish have actually SIGNED their young stars to long term Deals. JJ got 4 years, Hanley got 6 and Stanton will only be reaching arbitration 5 years from now.

I'd say pending injuries to any of them, they'll all be Marlins for a while.
